    Hello everyone,

Thank you for starting this thread, and I'm sorry that your watch's hands are advancing to 10:10 upon pressing the button. Following the rollout of firmware 1981, the 10:10 hand position is now constantly active without an option for deactivation. We've issued an official notice regarding this change, which you can access through the following link. We value the feedback from all users, and please be assured that we have conveyed it to our development team for future consideration.

Thank you all for your understanding,

I so feel the same as the OP! Really annoying update. These kind of problems don't motivate to update the scanwatch in future. There always seems to be a downhill after each update.

How the hell can I see the time while workout is ongoing???!!! I can't!! Unless I stop the workout or remember the time I started and add the time I've been working out. No use of this crappy watch after this update.

Unbelievably, it was confirmed via support that this was an INTENTIONAL change. 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

It's outrageous that we can now no longer use the stopwatch, timer, etc. and not be able to see... THE TIME...  on our WATCH... while doing so. 😡

Seems that by setting the quicklook on, it is possible to see the analogical time and the digital screen and during workout even scroll without the hands moving. But as soon as you press the nub, the hands move and you need to wait 20 seconds to see the time again.. what a use for a watch.. "Hey pal what's the time" "oh wait 20 sec and I'll tell ya'" *facepalm*

    Seriously...

My issue with Quicklook is that it sucks when you're in bed and roll over and then all of a sudden there's a blinding light in the room, ha. I wish I could set a time of day for Quicklook to be active in the app. There's an upgrade / firmware feature I'd actually use.

Withings, please bring back the option to stop the hands from moving away from the screen.

This is probably the stupidest I’ve ever seen a product/development team be. An option that obviously many users (myself included) highly value, suddenly taken away and forcing the less-preferable choice for that option as the forced default? Are y’all dumb or something? Please take this stuff through testing first next time. 🤦🏻‍♂️

BTW @Antonette, your reply does not "Complete" this issue. FAR FROM IT. It’s a cop out. At least leave the issue open until a real resolution is reached!

The hands off issue needs to be fixed as soon as possible. This is crucial for many users. After all, it’s primarily a watch!

Also, I personally preferred the temperature reading in the workout instead of the zone number. The zone was visible by the bars as far as I remember. Now the temperature accuracy is lost and a number is shown instead!

Could you please clarify what kind of upgrade this is?
Please give us an option of downgrading this as I now feel hesitant about future upgrades unless I can fully understand what they entail.

I considered the user interface superb but I don't trust the development team anymore.
    This is outrageous.

Users should have the option to choose whether or not to accept an upgrade and which features are included.
    What a pity!

Agree with everyone posting here! What is Withings thinking making decisions like they have? Perhaps they need to listen to their customers more or they wont have any….

Feel the same as everyone else in this thread. After my update the hands began going to 10:10 and the first thing I looked for was the option to turn it off. This needs to be fixed immediately! I bought this as a watch first everything else is second to that.

I just got my watch today after having an older version of the scan watch and came here to see if anyone was having the issues with the hands on the watch changing when you press the knob. I’m shocked to hear this was intentional. I thought my watch was defective. Terrible decision.

I am against the software update that now forces the hands to go to 10:10 whenever I am accessing the menu. I did have that option disabled previously. Now it is no longer an option. Definitely lost points with me in this regard. One of the reasons why I got this smartwatch over other was the fact that it was a watch first, smartwatch second. I had the option before and selected as I needed. Now, withings chose for me. Not cool.

Contacted the customer support about this issue as well. Great to see that many people have the same frustration as me. I really liked the watch, now i hate it. Apart from the obvious annoyance, the hands moving like that feels very digital, which i do not like from an analog watch.

Please bring it back, there was 0 incentive to remove this 'feature'

    Why was this removed?
Can you please bring back to disable the hands moving when navigating the menu?

Sorry but this is such a critical feature that I'm now considering returning my ScanWatch2 that I just activated about 45 minutes ago.

The lack of the Hands-off feature becomes even more disturbing in bright sunlight when the digital screen is not visible at all ('Auto' brightness mode). So, every time a message is received, both the TIME and the Digital screen are not visible.
This becomes even more annoying if there are many sequential messages/notifications, where we should wait for all the messages to end scrolling to see the time.

The factory reset option, annoyingly again, does not reset the watch to the initially manufactured state as the latest firmware is kept.
I admit this is the first time I've seen this on a device and definitely not a recommended - in development terms - policy.

We, as users, should be able to have the option to accept or not a new firmware and be able to revert to the initial or another previous version at will.

I have also raised this to the Support team amongst other issues.
As a heads up, do take a backup before factory reset, log out/in procedures.

Just wanted to share my experience after wearing my new ScanWatch 2 for 1 day...

Yesterday I was out for a walk at about 9, during the walk I receive a notification, I looked at the watch and it was my step goal but I almost got a heart attack since the watch was showing 10:10 (because I needed to be back home at 10) but then I remembered it was the feature to move the hands out of the way.

So my question is, shouldn't the hands show the time instead favoring to show the display? It is a watch right?

If I get a notification I either have to choose between showing the message and not knowing the time or discarding the message and see the time, it was no issue with my ScanWatch that I owned before since I know what time it was and see the notification.

Please bring back to disable to move the hands out of the way for users who don't want to use it.

Although Withings is saying that they are taking into consideration our feedback, it doesn't seem they are working on resolving this soon, as initially, they did not consider this as an issue but as an "update"!
I am not sure how the removal of a critical feature is considered an "update" though.

I don't believe that they really understand how crucial that is and more importantly the way of implementing similar firmware changes without asking the users' opinion or understanding our real needs.
Personally, I have rated the Withings App with just 1 star to express my disappointment with such actions onwards.

After spending some time trying to find where the setting is on my new watch I found this thread. Really disappointing that there's this feature that actively makes the device worse and can't be disabled.

I agree it’s a retrograde step that should be reversed. Not being able to see the time is a pointless choice for a watch. Might as well have to rely on a sundial after dark

    Change it back please

Please change this mechanism back as it was. I frequently use features like workout and timer, and not being able to check the time while looking at these options is really troubling.

Does anyone know if there is an older unsupported for update model that does not have this completely inconvenient feature now not option. My watch is unusable now have to think twice every time I look at watch if I am looking at real time. Defeats purpose of hybrid watch.

I second the other opinions on this thread. Please bring back the option to disable this feature. I have used the watch for over a year without ever having an issue of a hand obscuring the display and would really like an option to disable the feature which to my taste is uneccesary, confusing, and un-charming.

Just upgraded from a Scanwatch 1 to a Scanwatch 2 and miss this feature. Please bring back this feature. My brain thinks it's 10:10 every time I check my watch.

Also, i had to upgrade to the Scanwatch 2 as the back of my original Scanwatch fell off. With no option to disable this annoying 'wrong time' feature, i really feel like that my new watch is worse than the original

I find it a bit strange that the answer to this post (second post from Withtings) hast this in there:

We value the feedback from all users, and please be assured that we have conveyed it to our development team for future consideration.

...but no follow up post from someone at Withings was made after so many users responded that they are unhappy with that change.

Can somebody make Linus aware of that... :D
