I've been using my Steel HR for a while now and yes, I agree that it cannot really track all the steps because it needs the swinging of my arms and forward motion to recognize it. For me, I would prefer to have it as it is because it motivates me to push more with my activities. It just don't want to track the false steps.

Mine is waaaaay off. I actually did a manual count around the house to 100 steps. Steel HR registered 37. For a £180 watch it’s very disappointing. My kids have £40 activity trackers that are far more accurate.

Why is there no response from Withings about the inaccurate step count? It seems to have changed dramatically since the last software update.

    Hello Withings, are you there??

Same problem here with wrong step count. It is demotivating. Can withings sort this please? In other cheaper watches there is an option to calibrate the step count which seems to be missing on SteelHR

I have had six months of frustration and gather that I am not the only one. There is very little point in having a Withings Steel watch. Despite a lot of negative feedback, Withings ignore their customers. When are they going to wake up and respond? It is not as if these watches are cheap. Disgraceful attitude. Please deal with your many unhappy customers at once.

I had the same problem. I fixed it myself by doing a factory reset. There is a video on YouTube about how to do it. Good luck

I am having exactly the same problem. Walked approximately 8 miles today (with a friend); watch shows 6,478 steps. I too did a "count" yesterday and the watch is way out. This is VERY frustrating and expensive. If I get no response from Withings, I will take it further. The watch is only a few weeks old (purchased since lockdown).

Same here, I've been using it for quite a few months now, and I always have the feeling the steps are not counted properly. I have no idea why the low cost fitness trackers/bands can do it much better, or whether it's a technological issue other than just a firmware update.

Hi everyone, I had the same problem and fixed it with a factory reset. Search “withings watch factory reset” on YouTube. I hope it works for you too.

Resynching no good, I have still done 72.900 steps for the day and I am sitting at the PC!

There is absolutely no point of complaining or commenting. Withings take no notice after they have accepted your money for a dud watch/monitor. I have complained several times but they have never given a satisfactory answer. I now have a Fitbit on my other arm and it registers steps very much better.
