Steel HR Died Suddenly

My watch also died on around Saturday before noon. The hand stop working and no more notification or light up. 

Update: so I left my watch draining for about over a day and then placed it on the charger. It had power reserve on it. 

I fully charged my phone and it updated the firmware. It's like never happened ... Everything works fine ...

I have the same problem, my Steel HR (Marked Nokia) died yesterday at 6 p.m. at 61% of battery charge. I try immediatly to charge it on the base but the display give no response. Then I try immediatly the 20s reset and the 12 hours charge with a new reset as Withings say, but it is still dead. What can I do?

I suggest you reach out to the help link on the support page and start a support ticket. We'll have to see if all of these watches suddenly bricking is handled different than what FitBit is going through with their Charge2 model, which many users found were bricked after a firmware update.

My son bought me a withings hr sport in June 2019 when he was in France.Two days ago it stopped at 10 to 9 at night.We've tried to charge it for 12 hours,washed it slightly.I know it's  not the charger,it still charge my friends watch.I am in South Africa and I'm really worried and upset.I love the watch but I do not know what else to do.It stays dead..Marieke1vz@hotmail.co.za very Zyl

Mine died during the night, it still had around 70% battery last time I checked. Screen wont turn on, not even when charging. I can see in the Healthmate App that an Update is available, I wonder if it is in any way related.

IT'S ALIVE!

After reading other posts where people have tried leaving their watch off the charger and completely alone for 24-48 hours I thought I would give it a try... IT WORKED!

1. Left it off the charger for 36 hours.
2. Rinsed in warm water for 20 seconds
3. Pressed the button and was greeted with something along the lines of "Reserve Power"
4. Placed it on the charger. Percentage went slowly to 1%, then faster up to 100% (in a couple of hours)
5. Re-Paired and synced with my phone again.
6. Seems to be working OK

I'll be monitoring it very closely over the next few days and if anything happens, I'll be reaching out to Withings support.

My advice..... Leave your Steel HR off the charger for a couple of days and try again. YMMV, Gord

My watch 'died' last night.   Showed it had 16%.   I put it on the charger for 6-7 hours it was still dead and showed 0%.  Tried charging it again today, took it off the charger, pressed the button, put it back on the charger, and all of a sudden it started downloading new firmware 6321 and now seems to be charging.   The percentage started increasing.  Hope this is the firmware that fixes it.

I have an update.

Yesterday evening, after 1 day of stop without charging the watch, I tried to click the button and incredibly the displays shows vital signs ("Reserve Power"). So I put it immediatly on the cradle where the charging process has started (Battery icon showed 1%).


All have been ok! After few minutes (the battery power was at 41%) I decided to switch on the phone Bluetooth and immediatly they connected. After a software update everything seems to be as before the problem.

Now I have it on regular service since yesterday.

I have to thanks Withings for the fast and professional support which help me.

All seems the same as in gordwebster post but I haven't rinsed the watch in warm water.

It's back! 

After few days of finding an answer. I managed to get my watch work again. 

I rinsed the watch in warm water and let it dry for a few minutes. After that, I reconnected the watch to the charger and charged it for 12 hours and it finally turned on.  

I just ran into the same issue. Withings support asked me to charge for 12 hrs and then wash with warm water

My Steel HR died today at 07:26. It passed away so quiet that I did not recognize it before a couple of hours later, even if I had it on my wrist. The battery should be over 50%, and it doesn't seem to charge when I try to do that. The App doesn't get in touch with the watch.
I have read on the forum that many others has experienced the same, and that the watch has woken up after some days when the battery is low.

I see in the forum that it is hope for the watch to survive if I just let the battery run empty and then recharge it. 

Anyway. The first notice about this problem on the forum was 4 months ago. I don't understand why Withings cannot fix this bug. I don't want to use watches that die from time to time, even if they are pretty and usually have good battery capasity...

Yesterday my Steel HR died, but now it is alive again. Thank you, Forum, for giving me the answer. I waited for the battery to go empty and then recharged the watch successfully. However, I think I speeded up the process with making a pressure on the side button for many hours. This morning I got the response when putting it in the charger. 

I have not done what the support told me to, charge for 12 hours, and put it under warm water. 

Mine just died as well. I'll let it drain and cross my fingers! The first forum I read about this happening was 6 months ago, you'd think they would have fixed the problem by now.

Edit: It worked!
