Important Note regarding ECG function for Body Scan scales purchased in the US:
You will only be able to activate the ECG function with a valid US phone number and state of residence if you purchased a Body Scan from a retail outlet or online store based in the US. Details can be found below.
Activating the ECG feature
US users must follow a different installation process to activate the ECG feature. The activation process for the ‘Scan Monitor 2.0’ (ie. the ECG feature of your scale) will be performed under the care of a board-certified cardiologist in collaboration with our dedicated partner Heartbeat Health. This means that a board-certified cardiologist will review the first ECG recording acquired using the watch. After the review and validation of the ECG by the board-certified cardiologist, the feature will be unlocked for continued use. This ECG review is handled automatically directly through the Withings app when completing the ECG tutorial and comes at no additional cost.
Note: 6-lead ECG recordings will only appear on the Withings Android and iOS versions but will not appear on the Web Dashboard.
You can activate your Body Scan's ECG feature in two different ways:
On the Features Activation screen
- This can be accessed during installation as the last step of the setup ("Let's set up Body Scan").
- You can also access this same screen via the Tutorials section under your Devices.
On the Customize Screens screen
By selecting the Activate button next to the 'ECG 6-Lead' screen.
Medical Usage Approval and Taking Your First ECG Measurement
Once you reach the ECG activation screen, please follow these steps to start the activation process and receive permission to use the ‘Scan Monitor 2.0’ ECG feature going forward:
- Read the descriptions and disclaimers regarding the ECG feature and tap Next.
- Provide your state of residence and tap Confirm.
This information will help Withings comply with each state’s regulations.

Your phone number will be used for authentication later in the process and in the case you would like a physician to contact you regarding the ECG feature. This is required for Withings to ensure compliance with Rx regulations. Tap Next to confirm.
- A confirmation code will be sent to your phone.
Confirm your phone number by entering the code and tap Continue.
- In the next screen, you will need to agree to share your first ECG data with our dedicated partner Heartbeat Health to enable ECG use. This will allow Heartbeat Health to retrieve and analyze the data.
Select Agree to share my data and then Accept and continue.
- The next screen will inform you that your ECG needs to be reviewed. Tap Next.
- Read the instructions on how to record an ECG measurement and tap Next.

- A pop-up window will appear informing you that ECG activation will require synchronization. Select OK.
- The ECG function should be available on your scale upon your next weigh-in. If you do not take a measurement right away, the ECG function will be available on the scale during a routine synchronization overnight.
Note: If the ECG feature is unavailable even after an overnight synchronization, you may need to take 2 or 3 weight measurements at 2 minutes intervals to try to force a synchronization.
