Air Quality Metrics
Your Home allows you to check the air quality of the room by indicating the level of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). VOCs are a large group of carbon-based chemicals that easily evaporate at room temperature. They are a good indicator of the air quality and the ventilation of the room.
- 450 - 1,000 ppm: Good
- 1,000 - 2,000 ppm: Medium
- 2,000 - 3,000 ppm: Bad
- > 3,000 ppm: Very bad
Note: The Home is not a carbon monoxide detector and does not provide alerts or warnings about hazardous levels of carbon monoxide.
It takes 48 hours for the Home to finish calibrating its environmental sensors, but you can still view the VOC levels during that time.
Here is a list of the VOCs detected by the sensor:
- Paints and coatings: aliphatic hydrocarbons, ethyl acetate, glycol ethers, acetone, and methylene chloride
- Paints and adhesives: Formaldehyde
- Cigarette smoking: Benzene
- Dry cleaning: Perchloroethylene
- Engine exhaust: Methyl tert-butyl ether
- Cleaning products, refrigerants: Tetrachloroethene, gasoline
Viewing the air quality graph
To view the air quality graph, perform the following steps:
- Open the Home app.
- Double-tap the live stream to display it in full-screen mode.
- Tap the air quality banner at the top of the screen.
Troubleshooting
If the Home displays a solid red light, it may be a problem with the Air Quality detection. See this article for more information.
If the Home has been set up for more than 48 hours, but still does not, or has stopped receiving, air quality measurements, you may need to perform a factory reset of the Home and reconfigure it.
