Preparing for a Measurement
Make sure you follow these guidelines before taking a measurement:
- Make sure there is no lint or other obstruction blocking the sensor.
- Make sure you and the BeamO are both in the same room temperature space for 10 minutes before taking the measurement.
- Do not expose the BeamO to direct sunlight or leave near a source of heat prior to measurement.
- The measurement has to be taken on dry skin. Sweaty or damp skin could impact the results.
- Make sure your hair is not in the way.
- Wait at least 10 minutes after waking up or working out before taking your measurement.
- If you’re taking the temperature of a baby, make sure you wait at least 15 minutes after crying or nursing them before taking a measurement.
- Do not take a measurement on a premature baby.
How to take a measurement
To take a measurement, follow these steps:
- Turn on the device by pressing the button.
- Choose your user profile.
- Find the Temperature Icon and press the button to select it:
- Point the indicated Thermometer opening on the top of the device toward the center of your forehead.
- Press the button to start the measurement.
- Starting from the center of the forehead scan once for about 3 seconds across the forehead in a straight line to just above your ear.
Note: Direct contact with the skin is not necessary. BeamO can be up to 1 cm (0.5 in.) away from your skin. - BeamO will vibrate once the measurement is complete and the result will appear on the display with a fever status (if applicable):
Understanding the fever status
The color of the icon indicates at a glance whether or not the person has a fever. This is based on the temperature and the user’s age range. The severity of the fever is also clearly visible based on the color shown.
- Green: No Fever
- Yellow: Mild Fever
- Red: High Fever
