Performing a manual measurement
We recommend that U-Scan measurements be taken during the measurement windows chosen in your Measurement Plan, but you always have the option to launch a manual measurement at any given time. Please note that, by launching the manual measurement, you will cancel the next measurement window scheduled on the same day. The schedule will resume as normal after the next measurement window is skipped.
To manually launch a measurement, follow these steps:
- Open the Withings App.
- Tap the "+" symbol in upper right corner and then Launch U-Scan Measurement.
Alternately, go to Devices > U-Scan > Launch Measurement. - The next screen will notify you that you will have 5 minutes to collect a test sample.
- The status light will turn solid green while waiting for the test sample and then blink green for 20 seconds while it is performing the measurement.
- There will also be a pulsing orange light near the sample collection point as the sample is analyzed. - Results will be available in 20 minutes from the time of collection.
Tips for optimal sample collection
To make sure that you take your U-Scan measurements under the most optimal conditions, please make sure that:
- You are well hydrated and prepared to perform a measurement.
- Your sample collection time is at least 6 seconds long. This allows enough time and sample amount to take the most thorough measurement.
- You are seated when collecting the sample. This ensures that the sample makes direct contact with the device during the measurement window.
- You take your measurement within your designated measurement window (if configured for automatic measurement) or you take your measurement after manually launching it.
- The U-Scan is not hanging low enough to make constant contact with the pooled water in the toilet bowl.
- The U-Scan is not hanging too high that it is out of the path of urine.
- Your U-Scan is installed properly with your toilet, with the image below as an optimal example:
The optimal placement shows the U-Scan's smooth side up with enough distance from the pooled water.
