How does it record an electrocardiogram (ECG)?
Move ECG includes three electrodes to ensure measurement accuracy. Two electrodes are discreetly integrated inside the main body of the watch, and the third electrode is in the stainless steel bezel of the watch. Users simply need to touch both sides of the bezel to start recording ECG anytime and anywhere.
Is it a medically approved recording?
The ECG monitor of Move ECG has received a CE marking, following the medical device directive. Withings is working closely with the FDA to receive medical clearance.
What is the benefit of having an ECG on the wrist?
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is responsible for 30% of strokes. 90% of them could be avoided if AFib is detected at an early stage. AFib is underdiagnosed because explicit Atrial Fibrillation episode not necessary occurs at the doctor’s office. When a user feels symptoms such as palpitation, users can place his hand on his watch and in 30 seconds Move ECG will record an electrocardiogram by detecting your cardiac electrical signals. After the measurement, Move ECG vibrates to notify users that the reading is complete. It then syncs automatically with the Withings App, where it displays if the heart is beating in a normal pattern or whether there are signs of AFib.
How can I see the results?
After 30 seconds of measurement, Move ECG vibrates to notify users that the reading is complete. It then syncs automatically with the Withings App, where it displays if the heart is beating in a normal pattern or whether there are signs of AFib. Additionally, users can find a detailed graph in Withings App of their long-term heart rate trends and ECG records.
How can I share my results or act on it?
Data collected by Move ECG and visualized in Withings App can easily be shared with a doctor or healthcare professional, which can help assist with early diagnosis and prevention.
Can Move ECG detect arrhythmias other than Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)?
Move ECG has algorithms that can provide the following ECG results: normal, atrial fibrillation, low heart rate or high heart rate. As a medical device, Move ECG will not be cleared to detect or communicate any other results, rhythms, or arrhythmias. However, the watch records a single-lead ECG. Therefore, any arrhythmia that appears on this type of ECG is likely to appear on the ECG recorded by your watch. You may present this recording to a specialist for diagnosis.
Can Move ECG start automatically when arrhythmia is detected? Can it also detect myocardial ischemia?
Move ECG cannot automatically start nor alert you of an arrhythmia. It is essential to start an ECG directly from the watch spontaneously or when an abnormality is perceived. Move ECG is able to detect signs of AFib following this recording.
The presence of myocardial ischemia is not analyzed on the ECG trace, meaning that Move ECG cannot detect it.
