Disclaimer: SpO2 on BodyScan 2 is a wellness (non-medical) feature and is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition.
When is SpO2 measured on BodyScan 2?
SpO2 is captured while you hold the handle during a scan:
- Longevity Scan: automatically included as part of the full health assessment.
- Daily Scan: included if the measurement is activated in the app.
How to take an SpO2 measurement?
Follow these steps for a successful reading:
- Place your thumbs on the front electrodes and your fingers on the electrodes on the back. Your left thumb must stay in contact with the optical sensor for the whole measurement.
- Stay still and do not talk during the scan. Keep your arms relaxed.
- Watch the coloured gauge on the side of the screen and adjust the pressure of your thumb to keep the indicator in the green zone — press a little more or a little less firmly until it turns green. (This same gauge appears on both the SPO2 and ECG screens.)
- Once you are in the green, hold that pressure steady, stay still and don't talk until the measurement completes.
Note: Hold the handle gently with a light, steady contact as too much pressure is the most common reason a measurement fails.
The reading is taken automatically during the scan and your result appears in the Withings app afterwards.
Understanding your result
Your SpO2 value is shown on the scale with a status label and colour to help you interpret it:
- Normal – displayed in green
- Medium – displayed in green
- Low — displayed in orange
As this is a wellness measurement, use it for general awareness only. If you have a health concern, please consult a healthcare professional.
