Dear Community,
It’s been three years since we launched our flagship product ScanWatch, and today, we are very happy to announce our new generation of watches: ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light. We prepared a FAQ for you that you can find below. Should you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in this thread!
What’s new about the hardware for this generation of ScanWatch?
These new ScanWatches have a brand-new screen with a resolution of 14504 pixels, a coloring of 16 different grays and a brightness of 260 cd.
They also have new navigation features that allow you to manually log in specific data. You can access previous health and notification history in order to go back and see your previous data.
Furthermore, we upgraded the accelerometer with more directional sensors for activity and workout precision that allows 40+ activities to be tracked automatically.
What are the differences between ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light?
Both watches can measure the following indicators: steps, distance, elevation, workouts; sleep (light and deep); breathing disturbances; heart rate; calories; VO2 Max; respiratory scan; menstrual cycle.
Additionally, ScanWatch 2 benefits from the following features: ECG recording and Afib detection; SpO2; temperature.
Contrary to ScanWatch Light, ScanWatch 2 has an activity dial. ScanWatch Light’s users can still access the number of their steps via the watch’s screen but, since ScanWatch 2 is our flagship, we wanted to incorporate an exclusive premium design well-known in the watch industry.
What are the differences between ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch 1?
ScanWatch 2 has a more advanced proactive health features that can offer users unique insights into their well-being. This new model has taken all the features from the previous ScanWatch and expanded to include respiratory rate, a comprehensive menstrual cycle guide* as well as a 24/7 temperature tracking feature. ScanWatch 2 has also seen major improvements in terms of the algorithms and sensors, making it an even more advanced and premium smartwatch.
* The menstrual cycle guide will be available in November 2023.
What are the differences between ScanWatch Light and Steel HR?
ScanWatch Light has a more premium design with a durable gorilla glass. It also features more advanced health metrics than Steel HR, such as a high/low resting heart rate notifications, respiratory scan, and menstrual cycle guide*.
* The menstrual cycle guide will be available in November 2023.
How will the menstrual cycle tracking feature work?
Withings' brand new menstrual cycle guide provides comprehensive data all in one place so that you can keep track of your symptoms, length, and phases to stay on top of your health. Tracking your menstrual cycle phases, length, and symptoms month after month can help you understand your unique cycle patterns. Get notifications, and stay empowered with comprehensive data that can help you make informed decisions about your menstrual health and build better routines to stay balanced.
You can also export all of your menstrual health data, including symptoms, duration, and phases, on a comprehensive PDF report that can be sent directly to your doctor. This holistic view enables more accurate assessments of your reproductive health and may be able to facilitate early detection of an issue as it arises.
Why is it important to track my temperature during a workout or overnight?
When you work out, your body temperature can change periodically, so it is important to stay on top of your data. Heat exhaustion, for example, is a common problem for people over 65 with health conditions and for those living in a hotter climate. Tracking your live exercise temperature shifts will help you stay informed, and prevent yourself from overheating, which can benefit your performance and post-workout recovery.
While sleeping, it is normal for your temperature to rise and fall at night, as inflammatory responses are amplified to fight sickness or health issues. By following your baseline over the long term, you can build better nighttime habits and stay on top of your fluctuations, which may indicate the onset of an illness.
Note that the temperature module is able to track temperature fluctuation day and night, and during a workout, but it won’t be available on demand. The intended use is to monitor a baseline by launching measurements automatically.
Why doesn’t ScanWatch 2 use temperature to track ovulation/period?
At the moment, the menstrual cycle guide, available in November 2023, only relies on manual logging. Thanks to a dedicated experience in the app and a new way to log your symptoms from the watch, you can get an overview of your unique cycle patterns to better understand your overall health.
It is just the beginning of our mission to improve women’s health, and so, there is room to potentially expand on this feature based on the biomarkers we currently have and strive for in the future.
