After a few days, the bug strikes back with v6.2.0.

It is very frustrating that this problem persists. We've been here for several months and even though several versions of the withing app have been released, nothing changes. I imagine that maybe it's not just about updating it but also the firmware of the smartwatch. Honestly, the panorama is bleak. Very disappointed.

Still a problem with version 6.2. Pixel 7 shows 78% battery usage with Withings App. Not Acceptable, please get it fixed

This might help the developers who have been stumped on the issue for the past 2 months. Someone reverse engineered the problem and found what could be the root cause: https://www.reddit.com/r/withings/comments/18k9mii/details_on_android_battery_drain_issue_with/

Can you please do something about this battery drain issue - it makes your app unusable, I have my phone permanently charging all day today and still not 100% and warnings on my phone that 'Withings app' is high battery drain, it's unacceptable that you release this 'not fully tested' version onto your users, and if you have done so then I think the least you can do is revert to the previous stable version until you fixed it. I saw one user reverted to that version but I don't see how I am able to do so - I think you should withdraw this 'battery munching' version until you have stablised it. We are now 18th Dec and I have a feeling you will still be working on this after Christmas so please do the decent thing and withdraw this version until you have it sorted out.

    Dear ethanbayne
Thank you for the analysis, which sounds very plausible and is described in a way that is easy to understand. If this is indeed the cause, I have absolutely no sympathy for Withings, because it should be possible to find and rectify such a fault quickly. In this case, everything the support team has said is absolute rubbish.

I cannot take the credit, the analysis isn't mine. I seen it on reddit and wanted to share it here as I thought there was some excellent investigation and findings on the post. I'm just another user fed up with Withings not resolving a critical issue such as this in a timely manner.

Withings, you are behaving like a Chinese company which sells cheap unfinished products with no support. Unfortunately for you, you are located in France and selling your products in the EU/US so...we can complain to authorities about making our expensive products unusable.

At the end of the article it's specified that Withings will launch 6.2.1 in the next days...after the author cancelled the Scanwatch 2 review because of the app..

The article is from the 18th, it's the 22nd now, that's 'a few days'. I may be impatient, but this has been going on far too long.

It's also the last working day before Christmas, are they going to shut down until after Christmas?

I don't know what it's like in France, but in the UK many offices will be shut down after today until 2nd of January.

It's very possible that they were referring to next "working days"...right. However let's not have big hopes, for Withings it's okay to have a critical issue for two months, nothing will burn for some another weeks in their perception I guess...

So far, press articles have not prompted Withings to make a recognisably quick correction. This one is from 13.12.

6.2.1 is out, it specifically says they've addressed the battery issue in the app description.

I've just got it too and will monitor.

Awesome that Withings support has kept us all in the loop and provided us with updates. :)

One thing is for sure, while it was syncing, my phone was literally unusable until it was done. I haven't had the app installed in a few weeks for it took a while. I wouldn't do this if you have important calls to make

After the latest update 6.2.1, the incoming call notification does not work (Samsung Galaxy S21, Android 14). (Applications and watch completely reinstalled several times, notifications enabled, including Phone and Call)

I'm on 6.2.1 and notifications do work properly.

The OP on reddit confirms that the battery drain issue seem to be fixed.

Just installed 6.2.1, call notifications don't work anymore. This is even more disappointing than the battery issue...

WhatsApp notification are back, but call notifications are no longer supported. Excellent work, Withings. I'd love to get in touch with your skilled development team.

I am glad I waited. Disabling function(s) is NOT fixing problems! I therefore still use 6.0.1 without problems... S22ultra

I just have the same bug with (WhatsApp) call notifications I've had for ages - when the call is ringing I get no notification on the watch, but after I've missed it the watch does the constant call notification.

6.2.1 installed earlier toda, battery usage by the app currently at 1.54%.

After reinstalling 6.0.1 a few days ago I did have some issues with notifications not working at all until I'd toggled them off and on again in the app, and the notifications permission in Android.

Honestly I'm thinking I'll just go for a fitbit if Withings doesn't fix this soon. I've had my Scanwatch for over a year and found the measurements are just not what I expected. I suspect the problem is with software - soft proof from this battery drain that they failed to make a priority for the 6.2 release. Back when I got this watch I thought I was getting a Ferrari. When the app didn't take 40=50% of my battery I thought it was a Lexus. When you turn everything off...it's like a KIA. From 2010.

I might as well go buy a new fitbit because I actually trust it to work.

I installed 6.2.1 and then realized that call notification has been removed or at least I couldn't find it under Notifications. On-watch call notification is a basic core function for a smartwatch. Not having this function is unacceptable. I reverted back to 6.0.1 and after toggling off/on all the required app permissions in the App settings I have call and text notifications again.

I tried 6.2.1. Notification worked fine for me, but no change in the battery drain issue... Battery level decreased by 10% in 15 minutes, so even worse. (Google Pixel 7a)

I'll keep using my fitbit till the next update...

I feel sorry for the people who make these wonderful watches, which have become unusable due to such application issue.

The last update 6.2.1 fixed the battery issue for me. Thanks Withings for rolling this out. Merry Christmas everyone.
