Same issue for me, Nokia xr20, uninstalling the app fixed the battery drain. We're talking about a phone that can reach 4 days of uptime being reduced to under 12 hours with the app installed

I would have thought that this would be being treated more urgently as this is a serious bug.  I've got a Pixel 8 Pro and this bug coincided with buying this phone so I have been blaming the battery drain on Google, but just realised that it is the Withings app causing the problem.  I have disabled notifications and the phone has been ok for the last day.

Come on Withings, either fix your bug or regress the app update to the working version.

For now I uninstalled from all Android phones as the issue exists on my Pixel 8 Pro and S23U both running Android 14 as well as my Fold 5 running Android 13. I set my watch up on my iPad which works just fine but obviously I don't get any notifications on the go. I'll try side loading the old app as well. This problem has been going on for too long now.

Looking forward to a fix for this. It is a terrible user-experience when a phone that normally lasts a 1½ days only last less than ½ a day. For hours to go from 100% to less than 50% is not what is expected 2023.

I am using a Google Pixel 7 with Android 14.

When can we expect a solution?

    Solution

Until Withings fixes the issue, you should downgrade the app to v6.0.1 and disable automatic updates as explained here.

I have been using this version for weeks and the battery drain problem is no longer a concern!

I did try sideloading v6.0.1 to my wife's Pixel 7 Pro and it was working fine, but couldn't enable the specific notifications permission that allows the app to "read" all notifications and send them to my watch...

@pedrolamas - I get the same.  It looks like the new android update has changed the permissions which is supported by the new Health Mate version, but not the old.

I have uninstalled the Withings app and what this has done is:

    - Battery lasts again to 40-50% by end of the day

    - No more excessive heating of the device forcing shutting down antenna's when using it in the car with Android Auto

    - Release some of my annoyance at yet again a battery drain issue (I am a Withings early adopter)

    I am currently using a Pixel 7.

I will note that this degradation of functionality is now having me doubt whether we should stop and fully move to another as my brother has no issues with his systems. I cannot have the App as it impact ALL other functionality I derive from my phone in daily life. Having the app allows me (and my family) to use the BP, scales and watch. In short the app is ensuring we have loss of all Withings devices functionality.

Hope this gets fixed, also gets fixed permanently this time. We're fed up.

    Hi,

There are same claims in French here : https://support.withings.com/hc/fr/community/posts/12511918062609-Consommation-batterie-excessive on many phone (mostly on galaxy S).

Reverting to the previous version of the app is a workaround. But some users does not how to do it.

These a huge issue. Without battery we can't access the transportation app (bus tickets) and Multi Factor Authentification (MFA) app... So support must go in an hurry before media/press start to speak about this bug.

Hi, I have the same problem with a Xiaomi 13 Ultra. What I'm doing is installing the app every week, downloading the smartwatch cache and uninstalling the app again. I would appreciate it if you could solve this problem as soon as possible. I have 3 different withings products and every time I need to check the measurements and history I have to go to the web. Thank you very much.

Have you guys tried to wipe out the app's cache? For over a day I don't have a battery drain problem.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Yes it was the first thing I tried.  The problem comes back after clearing the cache.

Same problem here with my Pixel 8 Pro. Workaround of disabling all notifications seems to fix it, but that's half of the functionality of the ScanWatch lost there. So, Withings, fix this ASAP, please.

@zane.neizel You go to the app settings, Storage and Clear Cache.

Since I did so, on my Zenfone 9, the app is no longer draining the battery, at 90% now after 7h of use.

Is there any way to switch off the battery notification? My scanwatch gives me the amount of battery available every 3 seconds. It vibrates with the notification and "no charging"

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app - that seems to have fixed the issue...

    Hi,
I just received my scan 2 watch a few days ago and saw that the Withings App drained the battery on my pixel 7pro within a few hours. Switched off notifications, etc helped a little but makes it useless.

When will a fix be available?

If not very soon I will have to return the watch and get reimbursed.

    Thanks.

I'm experiencing the same on a Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite (Android 11) since last update. I have to manually kill the application to avoid draining the battery in just a few minutes.

Withings staff, is there any update?  Any eta of a fix?

This is obviously a widespread problem and I wonder how many of your customers are experiencing problems with their battery life of their phone and have not realised it is your app.  Others may have realised and just stopped using your app/ devices.

It makes me laugh that I keep getting black Friday deals for your other products at the same time that a problem like this is still outstanding and there are so little updates from Withings.  I was thinking of upgrading to the Scanwatch 2 if I found a good deal, but I've not even looked as this problem is not filling me with confidence in your products.

Just swapped from a Pixel 5 (which was fully updated) to a Pixel 8 Pro and have this same issue; arrived at work with 79% (from 100%) and 45% of the usage was withings vs 22% from 40 minutes of screen on navigation in maps, it's insane!

Just noticed that Health Mate 6.2.0 released. It doesn't mention this being fixed, but will report back if the battery drain comes back.

EDIT: four days later and the issue has showed up again... 😅 Back to 6.0.1 in hopes of that working.

Nothing about a 6.2 release on their website either - https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/sections/360004548017-Release-Notes

Probably either a staged rollout or a beta release. At least now we know it's coming soon-ish.
