Why take away this optionality. It is so annoying, especially then the time is within 30 minutes of 10.10. I had that heart stopping moment at the weekend when I needed to be somewhere at 10.00 and thought I was late. Withings customer support - please provide an update on how this is progressing with the tech team.

I'd really like to know if customer support are listening at all. This post and another similar post have been at the top of the forum for months.

Especially frustrating for an app developer like me, who understands that must be a trivial thing to restore to the app.

Excited to see there was a firmware update, unfortunately disabling the 10:10 function was not part of it. Really frustrating, this is such an easy fix!!

Absolutely atrocious change. @Withings, bring back the option to turn the 10:10 position off. Completely unbelievable to see a company so willing to disregard its customers and cripple its own product.

I feel like I'm visiting this support forum way more than anyone at Withings.

Any updates on whether we will get back this beloved feature?

I had to upgrade from a Scanwatch 1 since the button just stopped working. First thing I noticed was this annoying "feature" of the hands going 10:10 as soon as the display lights up. Right away I looked for the setting to disable it... And then found this thread. Exactly the same story as the many users who already complained here. WTF Withings!!! I like the Scanwatch because it looks like a watch... And now it doesn't tell the time? What. The. Fuck. Please please please consider a rollback here.

It is really frustrating that nobody from Withings themself seems to read the comments here.

Yesterday I got a phone call and I would like to tell the time to my buddy on the other end from the phone call but I couldn't because the hands where moved out of the way because my watch wanted to tell me that I have a Active Phone call.

Sorry but this is a really bad decision that you guys made.
    Can this please be reverted?

Just piling on - “upgraded” to SW2 when my SW1 died, and this is really disappointing. Clearly the mechanism exists to give us the option to disable, please allow us to make our own decisions on how the device works best for us

That's weird, my comment has disappeared. Anyway, I was just saying this issue isn't getting any support here and I've reluctantly dropped my Amaz*n review from 5 to 2 stars after many months of annoying watch hand moving. Sorry Withings!

I just went to 1 star. It’s really not cool. When you have an option to turn a "feature" off, you DO NOT remove the option. Who removes an option to turn something off? 🤦🏻‍♂️.

    Dear Community,

Thanks for posting and for keeping this thread alive.

We really value your feedback and you taking the time to bring it up to us. The hands moving to the 10:10 position when activating the display, to increase visibility, will be made optional in an update in the near future. I cannot yet provide you with an exact date, but I will keep you updated in this thread.

Thank you for your patience and have a great day!

@Markus thank you for this update - I just unboxed my SW Nova *minutes* ago, and that was the first setting I looked for; hugely upset that it isn't there.  Otherwise, the Nova feels like a nice upgrade from my earlier model.   I went Googling for answers and found this thread.

Will we get a Withings email about the update when it rolls out?

Can it just be a patch rather than all new firmware?

I hope it's VERY soon as I've also read about people's analog hands not returning to the correct time after the move.

    Hello @Dave D,

Thank you for your post, I hope you enjoy your ScanWatch Nova! The possibility to make the 10:10 hands position when activating the display will be included in a Firmware update. With every new update you receive a notification in your Withings App and in this notification you will find a link to the Help Center article detailing the new features of this update.

I will also inform you by replying to this post to share the news with you, as well as with a new post in the Forum for all users to see.

Lastly, I would like to inform you that I have edited the title of this thread to remove the abbreviation standing for swear words.

Have a good day and a great weekend!

I agree with the "Quicklook" blinding light during the night, I had to disable the feature completely... why couldn't they put a do not disturb feature that disables the quick look during the night hours.

Looking forward to my watch finally not annoying me daily with moving hands.

Today it's nine months ago Withings responded that they appreciate their customers feedback.
Appearantely that's the only the lip's confession as they still has not changed this stupidity back to optional again.
A wee bit pathetic, don't you think?

I think it's time my 5 star review for the watch was changed to 1 star. Might be only way that our reasonable request will be listened to.

I used to like this watch. Now I hate it. Frustrates me to no end. When I leave the country, I was always able to change the time by going into the app. Now the app is not letting me in even after I give the code they sent. Keeps repeating. Very annoying. I may have to buy an Apple Watch.

I just upgraded to the Scan Watch 2. My first Scan Watch had to be replaced owing to the hands locking with the auto hands feature. It's not just awkward to read the time and contemplate timings as texts come through (like any busy professional) but now I have to fear the hands getting stuck again. I echo everyone's frustrations here. Withings, please sort this immediately.

I encourage everyone reading this to leave 1-star reviews on all platforms until this is resolved. Frankly it seems like @withings won't care about their users until it clearly affects the bottom line.

I've given my watch one star reviews online. I've also had real world conversations where I've told people to avoid buying a Withings product. It makes me wish they paid an employee to read their own forum, so they could share my embarrassment every time I get an email notification for this post.

Anyway, Merry Christmas fellow scanwatch owners! Here's to another year of spinning watch hands I guess.

I have given Withings app 1 star at google play since it is impossible to stop hands from moving in the app. One star for Scanwatch 2 and one star for Withings app. I have been seven years of Withings consumer and maybe it is time to move on to other products. I recommend to everyone The Suunto Vertical watch, which has better battery life than Withings Scanwatch 2 plus many more features, including gps-navigation and maps.

I was recently considering buying a ScanWatch 2, as it’s one of the few smart devices allowed in our company spaces. However, after reading many of the issues & suggestions in the forum, it seems that Withings is fairly unresponsive & non-committal in nearly every case.

Because of that, I’ll be looking at devices from vendors with better customer support.

For the Withings support folks, let your management know that they’re losing potential customers, because the reviews, forums, etc. are very telling.

    Hello everyone,

I can understand your frustration, so I would like to give you an update on the availability of this feature. The update to make the 10:10 position of the hands when looking at the display optional is ready, however, as it will be included in the next firmware update, it can only be deployed as soon as the entire firmware update is validated to be released. I do not have a date for the release yet, however I can assure that this is going to be very soon, in early 2025.

In the meantime I wish you all a happy new year and all the best for 2025!

    Best regards,

    Hello Marcus,

Thank you for the recent update – it looks promising, and I’m sure the entire community truly appreciates the effort you’ve put into it.

However, I would like to kindly remind everyone that this issue has been ongoing for over a year now. While I understand there are challenges, the support from Withings, especially in the early stages, did not meet the expectations many of us had.

One of the key benefits of the Scanwatch is that it is a hybrid, designed primarily to display time and secondarily to offer digital functions. This feature is what initially set the Scanwatch apart, but unfortunately, it became a source of frustration instead.

It’s difficult to understand why it took so long for the development team to address this.

I would also like to express my appreciation for Pia in Customer Service, who provided excellent support via email initially. However, communication was lost after a while, and I’m unsure why that happened. That said, I do recognise the efforts you’ve made, Marcus, as well as the support from the management and development teams to resolve this matter.

I had left a one-star review previously, but I’m hoping to gradually update it as I continue to see improvements. It’s a positive step forward, and I’m grateful to be able to enable my watch notifications as needed once again.

Thanks again for your efforts, and I look forward to seeing further progress!

A big thanks to everyone in the community for all your efforts in highlighting this!
    Happy New Year to all!
