    Hello Elaine,

Thank you for your message and for your feedback.

I understand your request for a fall detection feature, this is however currently not in our development roadmap, as Withings ScanWatch does not have cellular and cannot initiate a call to emergency services on its own.

I am sorry to disappoint you, I will pass on your feedback to our dedicated team for future developments.

    Have a great day!

    Markus, Withings Customer Service

    Hi,

Just as a note, as the lack of fall detection is the only thing stopping me from migrating from my current aging Samsung. The watch doesn't need a separate cellular connection, just bluetooth. My current galaxy watch, old as it is, is capable of alerting ( and has alerted friends when I threw it onto the bed for a shower ) for fall detection and uses the phone its connected to by bluetooth to send out text messages and phone people. It would mean a constant bluetooth connection which might dent the battery life a bit and giving the Withings app permission to send texts / make calls, accelerometer and a speaker. It doesn't need to be a standalone feature, just a feature.

Heck, if you wanted to you could give the option for it to connect to a separate ( sold separately ) base station in the event that the person didn't have a mobile / cell phone, but most of the stand out features require a phone so that's more an outlier use case

Indeed, I would be surprised that sending notification to emergency contacts (already a feature on android) would require anything more for connecting other than the already existing Bluetooth connection.

Extremely disappointed that this isn't even on the road map.

From the looks of it Android would be a relatively simple affair with how tos and everything https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/how-to-build-a-sos-mobile-application-in-android-studio/

iOS on the other hand is possibly behind the times like usual, unsure if this went anywhere https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/704411

    @Markus

Apple Watch has had fall detection since the Series 4 in 2018. Fall detection for Apple Watch works even for the GPS models that do not have cellular.

The lack of cellular service in the ScanWatch is no technical barrier to add Fall Detection

PLEASE integrate fall detection into ScanWatch!! Our Apple & Samsung watch friends have had this feature for YEARS. All we need is it to text a chosen emergency contact when a fall is detected. This would be a godsend for caregivers and anyone in general. My 80 yr old mother-in-law loves her ScanWatch. She has had 3 falls this month. What a relief it COULD have been to my husband & I if our ScanWatches could have been notified of this so our response time could have been quicker. This fall detection feature could literally save lives!

I agree I would buy a Scanwatch whenever you produce one with falls detection. Apple Watch at the moment

I would really like Fall Detection as well. My mom has fallen a few times in the past year and her Apple Watch has sent me a text every time. I can quickly call and check on her.
This has been an invaluable feature and I would really like my watch to have it as well. I’ve owned 2 withings watches and like them. Would stick with this brand for my next watch if it had this feature. Please consider putting this on the roadmap for development.

I have disequilibrium, thanks to Lyme disease, as well as POTS, so falls are very much a concern for me.

I very much admire the Withings smartwatches, for their look and feel and precision — but I need fall detection.

Please make it possible for me to switch to your otherwise excellent product line.
