I just got my Scan Watch light yesterday, battery for the app has been terrible indeed. Withings app is causing 86% of my battery usage.

Was the previous version ok? Maybe we can roll back until this is fixed again?

Mine is 72%... As far as I recall there was no issue with the prior version.

After reinstalling the app, the battery drain seems to have stopped, but I expect the issue to be back in a day or two based on the last time, it was exactly like this.

Last time I read it would start when someone sent an emoji. Now, I am in Whatsapp groups that have emoji in the name, so if that really is the trigger, then I'll have the problem all the time.

This morning I did try force stopping the app, and even restarting my phone. This did not seem to have worked. For now I used the link from the other thread about 6.2.0 to install 7.0.1. I'll quickly charge my phone back to 100% and see what happens then.

Eric is right, I tested it and it seems to be the emoji-triggered infinite loop again. Once a notification containing an emoji hits the watch, some scaling algorithm gets stuck in a loop and drains the phone CPU constantly. I can't even express how insanely amateur it appears to introduce the same bug a full major version later. Do Withings devs do any real integration tests? Don't they have a test case for this after the last time? I also code for a living, and a blunder of this size would probably risk my job.

I don't have notifications set to 'on' from within withings (not from other apps like whatsapp anyway) and still have the same issue.

Also seeing the same issue, tried adjusting notification settings like last year, but that doesn't seem to have solved it. Running a Pixel 7 on Android 15.

Same problem here. Drained a Pixel 4a (7.0.1) 68% in four hours. I had an emoji sent to me too. Trying a reinstall.

I'm having the exact same situation as Lubos G, it just took me a while to catch on because I just assumed it was my battery being old and no longer holding a charge well.

I think the bug is indeed not present in 7.0.1. i wanted to say for sure today, but I just noticed it had auto updated to 7.1.0 tonight, so the problem is back. I reverted again, and disabled auto update. Another test today after it's charged back up. Too bad it has already messed with my 24h battery stats now.

I rolled back to v7.0.1 and working fine, so the issue started just with 7.1.0 version. I won't updated it again until is fixed.

Hmm, since rolling back this morning I'm no longer getting notifications on my phone. So that's not really a solution either. Although I don't remember it being a problem yesterday.

Anyway, this is day 3 with my new watch, the experience has not been great. If this keeps up for a while longer I'll be getting a refund, and I'll be back on my old dumb watch.

    Same.

It's ridiculous. I'm draining 60% just from this app. I can't even make it through a full day. I reverted to 7.0.1 and now don't get notifications at all on the watch. Total over prices POS - really disappointing.
