Scales 2 days old and handle wont retract

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear that the handle of your Body Scan won't retract after using it for two days. I appreciate the photo and information you shared. Please ensure that the handle is in the correct orientation and that the cord is not twisted (the L printed on the handle should be on the left side of the scale, and the R should be on the right side). Also, fully extend the cord and see if it now retracts and can be properly pulled again.

i have the same issue, just reaching out to customer service on chat - if possible 

now i've bypassed the chat bot, coz it was not able to help
and asked for a person
now im waiting for almost 1 hr...

I have the same problem 5 months old Body Scan.
Will try to contact via the chat when the service is opened.

I have the same problem - and I have been waiting for a chat agent for over 4 hours!  I will recommend to friends that they not buy this unit.

Bought this scale in December 2024 and had a pop sound and scale weight issue as well in May 2025. 

I just experienced the same issue - a pop sound followed by the cable not retracting. Super frustrating to see that this is a known issue and it hasn’t been resolved yet. Will be returning to Withings and won’t purchase another one until design flaw has been fixed.

My scale is doing the same thing and will not retract regardless of the orientation of the court or handles. This is very frustrating because it is a very expensive scale.

Did anyone get an answer to this question? Same problem: fully extended the handle, heard a click, now it won’t retract.  Also, maybe I am just missing it, but I do not see any indications or markings for a left or a right side of the handle.
