exactly the same problem here!
After entering a valid email address the error says "please enter a VALID email address".
I hope they fix it quickly...

Same here, added wife's email as additional family member. When she now tries to create an account it states account already exists, try and reset password state email not recognized..... Stuck in a loop!

Support told me that when you create a family user that email stays in their system for 7 days after you delete the family user then you can create a standalone account

Really poor support guys! Pathetic. You do not have the decency to respond back to our initial support engagement. No, the link does not resolve the issue, do not believe it is possible to make the account independent, tried like 10 times from different devices. We have a useless scale that go overpaid for poor support. Pathetic. What a waste of my time and money. If you bother to respond, please resolve the matter and contact me.

I know the original post is two years old, but I'm still having problems with an @iCloud.com address. If any of you managed to create an account, please can you let me know what domain you are using, i.e. gmail.com / hotmail.com, etc.

If you've already used that email address as a family member in the app on another device then they need to be removed, see my post above yours and the link in rudi's post

@mike.whelan - I did the same thing that @rudy.federici mentioned and it worked. I made her account independent and was able to set her account up.
