    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Sleep and Sleep Analyzer. As indicated in this article, Sleep Analyzer is a new version of Sleep. Sleep Analyzer can detect sleep apnea whereas Sleep only detects breathing disturbances (see here). While Sleep Analyzer has been clinically validated and is considered a medical device, this is not the case for Sleep.

Please note that European users of Sleep have now access to the sleep apnea function. In order to activate it, open Health Mate and go to “Devices” > “Sleep” > “Activate sleep apnea”. Once you have done that, you will have the same functionalities as if you had bought a Sleep Analyzer (to make it short, your Sleep will become a Sleep Analyzer once you have activated this option).

Good day to all of you,

I would also like to know this.  If there is updated hardware, I would be very interested but I don't see it specified as such either direct or from Amazon.

It looks like they added sleep apnea detection. https://www.engadget.com/withings-sleep-analyzer-sleep-apnea-070032739.html

That seems to be only app (and data processing on their servers). The Sleep also measures breathing rate continuously. Users just don't see it in app, but it can be downloaded from the webpage.

What will happen for customers who already have Sleep?

Withings is actively working on a solution to grant a free upgrade towards medical-grade sleep apnea detection to its community of Sleep users. This should be available in the coming weeks.

What would be the procedure for the upgrade?

Customers will receive an email explaining the whole procedure. There will be no need to return the product.

Did anyone receive an email yet?

I have the "Sleep" and bought the Sleep Analyzer. They have rhe same Modelnummer, what means the Hardware is the same. But they differ in software, or lets say just in software. may be we will get an email with upgrade instructions. and as I read on rhe website without costs. that would be great and that mean also that I have to return my sleep analyzer and wait for the software only update...

modelnumber on both hardware (sleep and sleep analyzer) is: WSM02

The Withings Aura Sensor have the number: WSM01 (I also have this sensor here)

Thanks for confirming this. I really appreciate Withings not leaving Loyal customers behind

When was the couple of weeks timeframe issued?

I am looking forward to the new features

    I have both sensors now.

The Sleep Analyzer shows "sleep apnea" in the health mate app: # breathing pauses / hour and classifies this as mild/moderate/severe. Also, two tests (questionnaires) can be accessed from the app (but they both didn't work).

The ("old") Sleep sensor shows "breathing disturbances": few/moderate/high. Measured since April 1st 2020.

Kinda looks like it is the same thing to me, same thing, different name?

So, with the new update 1991 now available for the “old” sleep, the apnea feature is now available? Some limitations with regards the monitoring with sleep analyzer? Thank you.

Sorry. Just checked mine. No update available? What limitations are there? Thanks

I mean. There are two products. Sleep and sleep analyzer. Same hardware. Different software. The only difference in software I think is the sleep apnea measuring. An update, called 1991 appeared on April 2020, including in theory this functionality for the old sleep. Not tested yet. But my sleep is now updated to 1991. What I see from above post or Thomasbalder is a software difference between products but now at app level.

I read that 1991 was the update for analzer. Withings mentioned "in the coming weeks" we would be contacted to tell us how to to get same function as analzer users. It was not mentioned if it would be a software or firmware update but I interepted as Firmware. I have had no email and my firmware is still 1871 and forcing update says I have latest firmware already.

Mine, sleep, is in 1991. Try to do a hard reset and set it up again. Maybe it will catch the update.

Strange one. I have 1991 installed and in the instructions linked to in the 'about' section of my sleep device it tells me how to activate sleep apnea detection. I'm supposed to select the 'understand sleep apnea detection' option from my withings sleep device. This is not listed however and my device continues to show 'breathing disturbances' rather than 'sleep apnea level'. I've tried a factory reset of my device and even selected 'sleep analyser' when installing but it's still listed as a sleep and there is no 'understand sleep apnea detection' option.

However.......if I export a PDF to share with a medical professional, page 2 shows an AHI score which I believe is a measurement of sleep apnea.

    Any idea what's going on?

Same thing here: I bought a Sleep Analyzer (Version 2020) and in my app its detected as only „sleep“. Even in the settings I cant switch on/off Sleep Apnea function as it’s written in the user guide? I have also the newest firmware on it 1991...I wrote Withings and they told me I have bought only the Sleep version. What? On my box it’s clearly written sleep analyzer. Very weird!

I have 'Sleep'. There was "enable sleep apnea detection" on "my devices".page. Firmware was/is 1991. Only noticed this setting after reading this discussion. There is no setting to turning it off.

Yeah just checked again following your post and I can confirm that sleep apnea detection is now an option for me. My firmware hasn't updated as I've been on 1991 for a while now so I guess there must have been something triggered by Withings via the health mate app to switch on the functionality

Same here, yesterday i could activate sleep apnea tracking (look in the app where you would normally find "breathing disturbances"). Firmware is also 1991.

Like others I have just taken delivery of Sleep Analyzer which does not provide sleep apnea data.

Box clearly states sleep analyzer, firmware is 1991 out of the box.

Surprised Whitings is comfortable failing to respond to their customers

    Hi

kornel_meszaros has asked the same question in two places so sorry for my duplicate response

    ============================

The answer is that I had given up on ever solving the problem. I received no useful help from Withings at all and was using the device without any sleep apnoea data. Then after a few weeks the analyser just started working perfectly all by itself. I now get sleep apnoea data as expected.  I have no idea why it started working, I had made no changes to my home WiFi setup etc and the device firmware had remained at 1991. I assumed the app had been upgraded. In case it is relevant my device links with an android phone. I think you have two choices either you keep the analyser and hope it just starts working as mine did or just return it.

I consider the analyser is 5 out of 5 stars and the product support is 0 out of 5 stars.
