My WS-50 is literally draining a brand new set of alkaline batteries in hours. Any ideas on what could cause this?

Are you using rechargeable batteries with your scale? When I contacted the support team, they informed me that rechargeable batteries will not last as long as non-rechargeable batteries in the scale. If not, you can contact them using this link https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Issue is still there for me. I contact customer service and as I see with some of you, same answer. The offered me a discount on a new one. I explain them that don't make sense to have this kind of issue going on with everybody and looks like a firmware issue or a planned obsolescence of the product. I tried disabling the send debug date, but still the same battery drain. If any one figure out what's going on, please post here.

I’ve had this issue for about a year, I’ve been following this thread since it started. After struggling with it for so long and no solution I finally got in touch with Withings to see for myself what their response would be. I made it clear I’m not going to stand for someone telling me to buy a new one... anyway this is what they said...
We've looked into the thread that you've provided and I appreciate it. In this case, could you please replace the batteries in the scale with new, non-rechargeable batteries again? When doing this, please check the battery compartment to ensure that the battery contacts aren't damaged, dirty, or rusty.
If the contacts are dirty or rusty, please clean them using a lint-free cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol.
If any of the battery contacts are damaged, please provide us with a photo of the battery compartment so that the damage is visible.
After doing this, a factory reset of the scale should be performed.
To reset the scale to factory settings:
Please go to the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device and locate the Body scale which may show up as Body XX. Select the gear or 'i' icon to the right of it, depending on your mobile device, and you will have the option to 'forget' or remove the scale.
Dissociate the scale from your account by opening the Health Mate app and going to 'My devices' -> Your scale -> 'Dissociate from my account'
Hold the button on the bottom of the scale for 8 seconds and then release it
A menu will appear with an arrow and three options: mac, upgrade, reset
Tap the button on the bottom of the scale until the arrow is on 'reset'
The scale will now reset and will be ready to be configured
For convenience, you will find instructions on how to set up your scale for Wi-Fi use here. After doing this, use the scale as normal and let me know if the battery continues to drain too quickly.
... so I will try this but it’s absolute bullsh&t, no way all of us are having this issue because of some damaged contacts. I’m going to do what they say and then get back to them
