Altitude difference / höhenmeter

Hi! After a gps traced walk I wanted to know the altitude difference. It should have been about 250m , but only showed 1. way down was tracked in a different recording, showed 17 meters. The walks were both recorded very accurate, gps was fine.. anyone knows how to improve this calculation?

Yeah, I have the same problem and also, after 4 hours and 30 minutes the activity is automatically killed off.
