kcal is not a standard metric unit. At the very least, the app should allow the user to choose to use kilojoules, the correct unit in both the SI and ISO standards. In Australia, all food is labelled in kilojoules and energy used in exercise is measured using this unit. Apple's Health and Activity apps manage to use the correct unit and Withings should do the same.

In Europe (The Netherlands), kcal is mentioned before kJ on nutrition labels, both are there..
The apple health app uses kcal on my nutrition and activity as well, so must be an Australian localisation thing.
However, I do agree they should offer a choice if this is the case.. I do not believe support reads this forum, so maybe file a ticket.

I'm jumping back in here with an example. On the front of the package is a daily intake % as an overview, and on the back are the finer details. All are in kilojoules.
I've you're going to sell into Australia, then you need to better understand your target market.
It is extremely difficult to use the Withings Health Mate app without proper units. -
At boomkamp's suggestion (see above), I filed a ticket with Withings asking if they would add an option to choose kilojoules to the app. I received a polite but essentially useless reply simply repeating what I already knew, that the app did not offer this option. They gave no indication whether or not they would even consider the request, pass the issue to the development team, or take any action at all.
While that is, in itself, disappointing, might I suggest that others file a similar ticket. If they receive several requests, they may be more motivated to act.
