I charged my scanwatch to 100% yesterday, did 2 ECG tests, 30 min cycle, bad night's sleep last night and noticed that the red led light seemed to always on. This morning my battery was down to 57% !
Would that constant red light be the respiratory scan running? I didn't notice the icon yesterday warning me it was going to run...

Summary of my first battery recharge

Somewhat disappointed by the short battery life. Obviously it's much more than an apple watch can handle, but they don't compare. The apple watch has a large colour screen and many functions. The ScanWatch has a tiny monochrome screen and very few functions. Even so, its battery has remained in 12 days (I've recharged it in 11 days but it could have lasted another day). Far from the 30 days the manufacturer says, even if I would have settled for 20

What did I use the watch for?

    • Quicklook on
    • Notifications: calls, whatsapp, HealtMate
    • Respiratory Scan automatic
    • 2 EGC
    • 2 SPO2
    • 35 m of exercise (brisk walk) for 10 days = 5h 50 minutes
    • 24/7 on my wrist

In this new stage I will keep all the settings the same except Respiratory Scan which I will deactivate because in principle no anomaly has been detected. We'll see how much it affects the deactivation of this function.

I don't know if the EGC, SPO2, calorie and other measurements are working correctly but for the moment I can use the guidance it gives me. But I agree with some colleagues on the forum who complain that the clock does not make the measurements correctly. If you sell a watch like that, which is not cheap, you have to do it well. Apparently there are companies that do not understand that when they put a product on the market they have to do it with all the tests done and checked. And what is more important, if the product has any problem or bug, solve it quickly and always be in contact with the customers.

As I said I have no way of knowing if the measurements are correct, next week I will also use the apple watch and compare them (at least in terms of calories, distance travelled and heart rate). I have found two problems with my watch, one very childish and that is that if you call any contact, they notify you just as they do with incoming calls. That is totally absurd!

Worse is when I go to train. I select the activity, hit start and...... does not connect to the Healt Mate application and does not register anything! This doesn't happen all the time but it happens too often. You have to be very attentive and lose time to see if everything is correct and the stopwatch runs. Coming from an apple watch that works like a Swiss watch in precision, this is annoying.

I don't like the charging system either. You have to be careful and get it right because if not, you'll end up realizing that it's not charging. The system is very poor and you have to place it carefully and accurately. I don't know if I have explained myself well on this. The charging time is very slow (3 hours from 9% to 100%).

Speaking of connectivity of scanwatch and healthmate and training sessions:
What is most annoying for me, is that steel hr sport does all of this flawlessly (even with healthmate 5.1.2). I tried different workouts, the initial start of a workout on the scanwatch is seldomly registered by HM. Same for ending a session (and, sometimes in between losing BT connection)
I also had the problem that the timer being displayed during a workout (which disappears after ~60secs and can be brought back by clicking on the crown) was stuck - scanwatch being completely unresponsive. Until i digged out my smartphone, activated it, opened healthmate and waited for a reconnect. Then my scanwatch responded again.

I think the BT connectivity and the reconnect after a loss is severly broken for scanwatch.
Same setup, and no problem at all with steel hr sport.

I wouldn't have anticipated that existing knowledge in how to communicate with a device gets lost at the developers when they bring a new watch to the market....

    Hello,

thank you all for your comments, very useful info. I recently got the scanwatch for 3000 Kr (Swedish kronor) and will have it for some 50 days. The seller has a policy of open buy (you can try it for up to 50 days and return it undamaged for a full refund). I like it and it does what it says. I just used the same seller to return an apple watch serie 5 which I had for aprox. 1 month. Amazing watch but not for me. I got tired of the daily charging and it offers much more info on my wrist that I would ever need. Now my comments of this nice Scanwatch:

    1) Battery: full charged yesterday at 5 PM, today at 11 PM (30 hs later) battery is in 60%... I have activated:

HR, Notifications: phone calls and house alarm, quicklook. No workouts done yet, 1 x SPO2 and 3 ECG.

I got in touch with tech support. They confirmed that they expect the battery to last 500 cycles and is non-removable. Meaning you can not replace the battery. Simply you trash the watch.

    2) I find very useful the fluorescent hands but they are weak (maybe the paint?) i had other watches with fluorescent hands and number and they were quite easy to see in all dark. I would like to have also fluorescent numbers, that would be great.

    3) Charging system: the magnet is weak. Please make it stronger on the next version, and use the same system as apple instead of having to place the watch into those 2 small pins.

So far nothing to complain besides the battery. I will minimize the notifications and no SPO2 measurements. If I do not reach 15 days the watch goes back to the seller and I will wait for the next version. The long lasting battery, ECG and HR were the reasons for my purchase.

I don't think you'll hit 15 days. The first charge cycle doesn't last very long. Battery needs to calibrate first

Hello tristan, thanks for your reply.

I am on the second charge, 4 days ago and already in 60% battery. I do not have much of notifications activated, no trainings sessions, no nothing. A bit disappointed.

Do you know how whitings has tested those "up to 30 days battery life" ? i tend to think that they just put a fully charged watch on a table, disable all smart functions, and came back after 30 days and the watch had still 1% battery remaning...so the conclusion "battery up to 30 days". If those are the testing conditions -no smart functions activated- I might as well buy a regular Casio G-Watch that has a battery life of 2 years.

I mean, when we decide to go for a smart watch is because we are interested in more that just reading the time, so smart watch companies should explain how they attained marketed battery life.

For example, Apple watch battery life is explain under which conditions and smart functions the user would get 18 hours, see here: https://www.apple.com/watch/battery/#:~:text=Apple%20Watch%20is%20so%20capable,doing%20a%2060%2Dminute%20workout.

I appreciate your time. Have a nice day.

    Hey Oska,

I don't know how they have tested it either but I think something is wrong about your unit. For example I charged my watch an the 19th of december and then again on the 3th of january. I'm using a LOT of notifications as well as around 1 ECG every 2 days and about 3 SP02 measurements a day. Sometimes a hour of walking workout but only twice a month maybe. My screen brightness is set to full (not automatic) and quick look is tuned off. So after 3 weeks I got about 10-14 % left and I charge it back up to 100%. I don't know what you are doing to loose 10% a day?? I think you should get it checkt with support

    Greetings
    Tristan

    HI Tristan

I appreciate your time. That is enough information to me. You are really using a lot of smart functions (and i can imagine you sync your phone and watch at least daily) and I am almost not using any smart besides notifications, heart beat and quick look. I am still in the trial period so I will test it  one more week and if similar situation I will return it for a change. Otherwise, I am very happy with it. Only comment is that i have to remember to turn off quick look at nite otherwise it will iluminate when i sleep. :-)

    have a nice day !

    No problem!

Yes the watch is always connected and synced with the app. (Checking the app 4 times a day). So I'm using it quite often. That's also one of my reasons why I turned quick look of. It just blinded me like a flash bang.

    Greetings

    Hello Tristan and all
I am in the second charge. Today is day 7 and battery is on 34%. I think it will got for another 3/4 days that will make around 11 days. I did:
    1 training for 1,5 hr
    ECG x 2
    Quick look ON
    Heart beat ON
Alarm ON 5 days/week 1 time per day
Notifications ON for house alarm and SMS (not much) and phone call.

I am still a bit disappointed since it should be near 30 days (I would be happy with 20 or so). As Tristan said, probably something is wrong with my unit so I will return it for a change.

I asked whitings support to explain the testing conditions and how are the watch settings for them to measure 30 days but they have not answered. If I get any answer i will post it here.

    Cheers everyone

Hey Oska I would do that yes. Just a question, do you actually wake up by the alarm of Scanwatch? I didn't a single time. Its way to light for me to wake up at all.

    Hej Tristan !
I wake up with the phone and vibration of the watch but the watch alarm is not enough for me either, I would not trust just the watch sound to wake up, too low. I think the scanwatch has a lot of potential. Maybe the next version (If whitings is following the forums) will be much better. Cheers !

    Hello Everyone,

I received my Scanwatch Horizon on April 18th, 2022 after waiting for them to be available and actually I purchased mine from overseas. I am in the US and the only became available in May.

I also have the regualr Scanwatch which I have been very satisfied with.

With the Horizon, I charged it when received on April 18th to 100%, 7 days later on the 25th it was at 31% and the following day 26%. I wasn't too happy with the rapid discharge. I don't use the fitness functions, I don't have it always on or very bright. I have the respiartory mode on as recommended and not constant. I charged again on April 26th when it was at 25%. On May 12th the battery was at 18%, it took 16 days to go from 100% to 18% and I could have gotten a couple more days out of it. I was happier with 16 days. Today is May 27 and the battery is at 24%, 15 days from last charge and I'm certain I can go another 3 days. So if I let it run down to 1% I believe I would get 20+ days of charge.

Regardless, I love this watch. I have an Apple, Galaxy, Movado and Mont Blanc smart watches, none stay charged as long and the Hybrid design is very classy. I don't wear the other watches at all only the Horizon.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Mike
