as i said before, it's working fine with steelhr sport. Only scanwatch is giving me those problems? I thought it had to do with the new android10 energy policies, but if i have a working watch (steel) - so this might not be the original problem i'm facing?

(And, other devices (like bose headphones) work flawlessly with BT on the phone.)

I can confirm the behavior what claus.ried is mentioning in the first post. Experiencing also very strange Bluetooth connection problems. Sometimes working fine as long you don't move out of Bluetooth range. When coming back the watch is not connecting until you activate screen on the phone then a message is saying searching for scanwatch an later connecting to scanwatch. Fact is, that is not connecting until I switch off and on Bluetooth and/or clear cache of health mate app. Couldn't find any pattern when it is working and when not but seems to be related to Android 10 as I tried also a different phone on Android 8 and here it was working well.

Did you open a bugticket? I did, but it gets closed everytime i look into it (without any message from support, just goes from 'open' state to 'closed')

Maybe we reach a 'critical mass' to get this problem sorted out eventually if everyone having similar problems opens a ticket?

No, i haven't so far opened a ticket.
Also interesting is, it seems when the phone is connected to my car Bluetooth seems to be stable and watch keeps connected and I'm also getting notifications.

I have a Move ECG. I planned to buy a scanwatch. There are ongoing connectivity issues with the HealthMate app. Hard to connect, hard to sync, lose connection. The app continuously turns the bluetooth radio on and off on my phone and my other bluetooth devices are disconnects. Stops music playing on my BT speaker.  Until they fix this bug I will definitely not buy one.

@mario.schwab1 : I opened a ticket. The only answer that i get continously is to do a factory reset and they send again and again the same mail to explain how to do it.

They don't care about this problem. It was already here with older models and will continue to be here until they hire real developpers (they can try to find them in Garmin, Fitbit or Apple maybe...)

at the moment, i am talking with Grace from support. (She was helping me on another ticket and i asked her to look into this problem also - what she did). Yes, same "support-manual" like approach here: do a factory reset, try reconnecting watch again.

I still haven't lost hope though, because this is what support should do: iron out typical user errors before the ticket is sent to the next support-level.

I explained the problem in detail to her again, let's see what info we will have when she gets back to me.

Still i think, the communication towards the devs should be improvedvastly (did anyone mention the so-called 'insider program' with a 'direct channel to our devs' ??? i never heard of anyone during this time when i was opening tickets... just Silence...)

The only people active had been in this forum (the other lucky ones getting a watch of the first batch)

All, can anybody confirm that Bluetooth connection is stable when phone is also connected to car Bluetooth?
In my case every time when i'm driving and my phone is connected to my car and also to my Scanwatch all is working fine and I'm also receiving notifications. Seems that when the phone is connected to both the car and the Scanwatch the connection to the watch stays stable and is somehow "repairing" itself. With repairing I mean that before I was entering the car notifications were not working and Health Mate app was not synchronizing.
Can anybody confirm this, because this would give the Engineers at Withings some indication where to start with root cause analysis.
Btw. I'm having a Huawei phone with Android 10 running.

I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue with the ScanWatch. When I am in the carr and phone connect to the car stereo I get all notifications. If I disconnect I never get any notification I have a Nokia 6 Android 9 phone. And I also have a Steel HR (works perfectly) but the new scanWatch has connection problems. all to do with the Bluetooth connection.

Same problem with me also!  Why can't these companies operate a proper customer relations policy and actually answer our problems.

I recorded the connection issue. I'm sorry this is a Move ECG but the problem is same. Can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyGkFsAIYtU

Three months to have an official comment.

The issue is probably solved with the last updates (firmware and app) made by withings.

Anyway, it is solved for me.

I have the same issue on an iPhone 12 mini both with scanwatch and Steel HR sport. Randomly disconnects itself and fails to reconnect until I wake it all up, at which point you miss the notifications. There seems to be no pattern to it. It seems worse if I have the widget on the homescreen. I had an iPhone XR and the sport HR and it all worked perfectly. I have had the mini Iphone replaced thinking it was that but still exactly the same. The scanwatch connects fine to an iPhone 7 with the same IOS 14.3 and health mate 5.3.2.. the iPhone 7 is Bluetooth 4.3 and the 12 is 5.0 BLE. Very annoying really and poised to return the scanwatch.. got a ticket open on it and have done all permutations of options, on/off... I fancy it’s an issue with sleep timers within BLE.

I have the same issue of the Scanwatch not reconnecting automatically when back in range of my S20 Ultra 5g. I always have to open the Health Mate app and go the Devices tab or else the Scanwatch remains disconnected even if close to the phone. I have opened numerous tickets and I am communicating with a person from Withings supports that finally, after numerology emails exchanged, stated that the devs will work on the issue and that in the meantime I should use it as is. No estimated time of solving the problem yet, I am waiting for one. I will keep you posted if I get some response regarding the time needed to solve this. It is frustrating since I love the Scanwatch and I cannot use it like this. Had a lot of smartwatches but this the one that looks awesome. Had before the Foss il Hybrid Collider, also and awesome one, and I've let him go in favour of the Scanwatch. Gonna get back to it if the Devs won't solve the issue. Really frustrating is the fact that no IOS users are reporting such a problem, it seems that only android users have this issue.

Mine is on IOS 14.3.   Poised to return it if there is not a resolution to the loss of connection / sync issues.   It will no doubt be an aggressive strategy to switch of the BLE radio to push the battery out to 25/30 days.   I would prefer a 7 day charge routine with 100% connectivity.  No faith in reliability for notifications at the moment, it is part of my work coms channels.  It is less important if it doesn't update steps immediately, but missing calls etc is not acceptable to me at least.

My bad then; anyway, sorry to find out that IOS users have the same problem. My work com channels are also being affected by this, especially with this work-at-home situation. I would prefer also a 7 day battery but with 100% connectivity

Huawei P40 pro android 11 works great, Sam zfold 2 lost connection every times I move out of range of the BT,  I set the app for to permanently stay on every times, to prevent energy saving problems, but no way. I think the app when lost the connection sleep and don't try to reconnect.

Agree, i think there is some sleep timers in BLE /bluetooth 5 that are not set correctly.  I have moved to Apple watch and its seemless, great range and never misses a notification.  I have a new scanwatch also, wearing both are fine with notifications going to each initially.  Move away from the phone and come back the apple connects and sends notifications in the Cache, witthings just says looking for your watch but so did steel HR and there is a move described in the thread with the same issue so not likely the watches.    I had an iphone Xr and steel HR I never noticed the issue here on older versions of the App.  Moved to Iphone 12 mini and upgraded the app to 5.3 and the steel hr also has the same issue so its not in my case the watches.   The iphone mini was replaced by apple as a result and still has the issues.   I believe the issues are in the app and how it is managing BLE that seems to be common with some Android and IOS.    They need to sort this as a priority....   I dont like the apple watch but it works great as a haptic notification device.   I keep checking for an update 5.4 that states "fixed connection issues" and or a software update from apple but that is now boring.   For those with the issue on Android, worth going back to earlier app versions, you can do it easilty on Android...   bit of a mare on IOS.  It may help diagnose the issue?.

    Hello everybody!

I've had the same issue about bluetooth connectivity with my scanwatch - whenever I was getting far from the watch and back into range again, it did not reconnect automatically to the phone. I've always had to open the Health Mate app and go to Devices Tab; only then it reconnected to the watch. If I didn't do this everytime I got back in range to the phone, I would always miss notifications.

Anyway, after some looking into the problem I've found that having Location always ON made the connection stable and the Scanwatch always reconects automatically after a few seconds.

Reading through the manuals and on the connect Scanwatch the phone tabs I've found that Withings specifies that Location services must be on in order for the connection to be always stable. I'm gonna post the link as soon as I find them again.

In short, when the Health App asks for Location ON, keep it on. Don't remember where I've enabled that, I believe it was when checking for software updates, I'll look into it as soon as it recharges full (it's charging right now).

I know that this eats more battery than usually but my S20 Ultra 5G has plenty of battery.

The location is permanently on as “always” and I still get the issues of no connection. Glad that it seems to fix some android devices.

Received my scanwatch today and have downloaded Healthmate onto my Samsung S7 (Android 8) but I can't pair them. My phone finds scanwatch A9 but won't accept either suggested pin (0000 or 1234). Tells me "can't pair incorrect pin". Your advice would be appreciated.

You do not apply the good procedure to connect your scanwatch to your phone. You have to use the app, then add a new device.

@brian if the watch is turned on there is a pair code of 6 digits on the display. You can't pair it with 0000 or 1234. You have to enter the code displayed on the watch itself
