First of all let's start with the positives: I have a 42 mm black watch and I am impressed by the price/quality ratio. The watch has a beautiful craft and comes with a saphire crystal glass. I assume it also Superluminova hands as they are very visible during the night. Having owned all previous watches I can say that this is an impressive step forward and certainly at a very good price (basically in the quartz Tissot range). Now, as with any new product and software I have a number of issues that I hope can be corrected with the future updates:
1/ Bluetooth connectivity: every 3-4 days the connectivity with the phone (samsung galaxy A30) gets disturbed in the sense that the two devices do not communicate with each other properly and this disturbs the BT connectivity between my phone and all other devices such as carkit or headphones. Initially I thought it had to do with the phone cache memory but after trial-and-error attempts I discovered that the problem solves when I do a factory reset of the Scanwatch. It seems that after using ECG and/or O2 functions, the amount of data is too large for the watch to transfer by BT and this disrupts the whole BT environment. A factory reset every 3-4 days is not a joy because I need to reconfigure the watch every time after.
2/ Heart rate during exercises: I performed the exact exercise on the Eliptical, several days in a row, using the Scanwatch and the Garmin. For the same exercise settings, the Garmin shows constantly a max HR of 170 b/m while the Scanwatch shows a max of around 120 b/m. I use the original strap, the watch is on its correct position on the wrist and seems to pickup the HR without interruptions. I think there is something with the algorithm during exercises.
3/ The Screen configuration changes from day-to-day on its own: on some days all options (time/date, HR, Workouts etc, all of them) just duplicate both on the app and on the watch. Then, the next day the problem disappears and the menu returns to normal.
4/ The apnea detection function, even when activated, on some nights does work and on some doesn't.
As said, I think these are normal bugs in a young product and I am sure Withings will eventually fix them. For the rest, the watch is a nice piece to wear, solid quality and the heart rhythm and O2 functions seem to work very nicely.
