BPM Connect Accuracy

I I have the same problem, although I haven’t gone to the hospital. My monitor consistently reads 10-20 points higher than what is measured at the Dr.  I have put an inquiry in directly to Withings about the problem. We’ll see what they say. If they’re not timely, I’ll send it back to Amazon and find something else.

same here the accuraccy is terrible. i will ask amazon for the return of the product.

same here. I took the BPM to the doctor and made a one after the after check. withings much too high all the time.

How can it be that a health / medical device measures wrong? 

Addendum: I have now thrown the Withings where it belongs: in the trash can. The OMRON HEM-FL31 now measures everything as it should. So the matter is settled for me and I can say goodbye here to the forum :) See you!

I'm finding the same. My Omron gives:

109 / 79,   76bpm

Withings BPM gives:

124 / 87  72bpm

Thats a huge difference! Both were done on the same  arm. The Withings I had set to 3 point average.

As said before - I thought this was a verified medical device, and should be 100% accurate?  Pointless having it if its so far out of whack :/

Just went to doctors office today. Their bp reading was 135/83. Moments later on same arm I used the BPM Connect and it read 175/108. For a $100 device that proclaims accuracy and conforms to standards I would expect a much more accurate device.

My blood pressure at the doctor’s office consistently runs 130/62.  I’ve done 3 readings on this.  They range from 150/68 to 179/70.  It’s scary!  
Worse, my husband who generally has BP about 110/70 could not get it to register at all. It kept saying “error 205” which means it’s too low to register.  

I have the same issue. I saw numerous reviews on Amazon of people saying this products readings were always high, and the doctors recommended not using it, but I thought it might just be poor quality control, and that maybe it was luck of the draw, and perhaps most devices were accurately calibrated, so I ordered one. Turns out mine too reads 15-20 points above my Omron (which itself reads similar to doctors office.) I emailed Withings to see if they have any advice, but I’m thinking there’s some x factor like bicep size or shape or body fat percentage that withings is poorly designed for somehow, or their quality control is just awful.

I used to love Withings. I have had several of their devices. They generally seem well designed and reliable, but this one seems a miss, and as a medical device, it’s alarming to see rampant reports of unaddressed inaccuracies. It’s such a shame, because I love the design of this, it’s WiFi, that it can automatically average three readings. It would be the best on the market if Withings could get their act together.

Anyway, I’ll see what Withings says, and try a replacement.

Ditto. I'm sending mine back to Amazon for a refund. You would think that with so many complaints, they would have taken a look into the issues and fixed them. I also love Withings stuff (we have 2 wi-fi scales), but this one just isn't accurate enough

From these two inaccuracy posts in the Withings forum, it looks like these cuffs are at least 20 points off for many people. Does not spark confidence in this product any more.

Same issue. M surprised withing s has not even attempted to respond to this thread.

I have the same issue. I got 170/99 but the doctor measured 132/70. I have also gotten several low reading in the 109/63 range. This unit was recommended by the Cleveland Clinic. 

I have reached out to Withings to ask for a new unit and I am waiting on an answer

My systolic readings are consistently 15-20 points higher than my doctor’s manual BP cuff.  She advised me to stop using the Withings BP Connect (after taking it with me to two visits in her office to check accuracy against her manual cuff) and go to www.validatebp.organd purchase one that has been validated.  I did that and am getting much lower readings that are consistent with a manual cuff reading.  I am fighting with Withings for a refund.  They are making me jump through hoops answering questions right now but I will persist until they stand behind their equipment.  If I have to I will report them to the BBB, the CPA and social media.  

I have the same problem--took it to the doc office with me and it tested about 15-20 points higher on both measures.  I'm going to social media to tell people not to buy it because of the poor customer service--you can't even contact the company directly!  No email--no phone #--no send a message!  This is an expensive monitor and it should have some customer service. 

Same problem here. BPM Connect readings suggested I had stage 2 high blood pressure. Went to the doctor with my BPM Connect to check calibration and after 12 checks confirmed that this Whithings device is way too high 100% of the time. RN took all readings including the BPM Connect.

This product is dangerous and Whithings should be held responsible

Same here, the readings were so inaccurate.  Went to doctor, reading was 125/80, very much higher with this Withings device.  Second doctor reading 125/81.  Withings still in the 150/95 range, so I returned to Amazon for a refund.  There is a serious problem with this device and the lack of recall or admission of a problem moves this issue from technical problem to organizational incompetence.

Same issue. Readings are preposterously high. Hard to believe this product is still on the market and has not been recalled. I am skeptical as to whether the the numerous five star ratings on Amazon are real (the vast majority of them specifically contain some variation of the word "accurate). 

I had the same experience as detailed above. At 174 my systolic was 40 points above my actual number when compared to my Doctor's blood pressure monitor which had just been calibrated. This device caused me undue anxiety and stress by making me believe my blood pressure was higher than it is. I am now off of blood pressure meds and buying the Omron cuff recommended by my doctor. Although this article https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026363534-BPM-Connect-Important-information-about-clinical-validation provides information on FDA clearance it seems clear that this product needs to be recalled and reevaluated, before someone's health is seriously affected by receiving erroenous information about their blood pressure.

My NP taught me that your arm needs to be elevated in addition to resting. I saw a drop in readings when I rested my arm on a table so that the cuff was a little higher than my heart.  Withings readings now approximate the doc office readings.
