I have determined after too many hours fiddling with Health Mate and direct contact via e-mail with Withings that they should permit direct use of Apple's "Health" app as an Alternative to Health Mate. The Health Mate app an Apple based product is no longer supported by Apple and is not listed by their App Store.

Health Mate is still listed in the App Store and there is no reason for Apple to support the HM App. It would be great if the integration with Apple Health was deeper but I guess this is Apple restricting access rather than Withings not implementing it (presumably Apple wishing to promote iWatch rather than allowing a competitor to gain an advantage).
Health Mate is a good app when it works but has become increasingly unreliable in my experience. It frequently crashes and has an unreliable bluetooth connection that requires constant attention. The app seems to crash if you accidentally press the crown too long when trying to pause a workout, it seems to confuse the watch/HM sync/interface and the only way I’ve found to cure this is by doing a Manufacturers reset on the watch, deleting the watch’s bluetooth profile in iPhone settings, then removing the device from the HM app itself before reinstalling. This is the only way I’ve found to maintain my data but clear a lock-up when the app starts to continuously crash.
A further issue I have experienced is that the Fitness indicator only works occasionally and then is not reliable. The heart rate during exercise is highly inaccurate and I very much doubt my Smart Watch complies with the EHRA standards that Withings claim for their product. I think the SpO2 uses heart rate and probably doesn’t record properly in the app because it thinks my heart must have exploded!
The one feature I liked about the Smart Watch was getting away from the terrible Apple iWatch touchscreen which is highly unreliable and erratic. Unfortunately the Withings Smart Watch crown is becoming just as unreliable which is a great shame because the Watch and HM app have many good features and the reporting is excellent. Things like the second hand, which reports % of steps to targdet, is pretty useless as is the crude and very limited OLED display. On balance I will return to the iWatch next time but buy older variants because Apple have a habit of launching new features before they work just to keep their product annual lifecycles going. As my main use is the health side it is disappointing that this niche opportunity for Withings has been lost due to appalling unreliability and inaccuracy.

What on Earth are you saying? Health Mate is a Withings App. What do you mean by Apple based product? It is not supported at all by Apple except that it is in the App Store. The App Store is the only way to get an App onto an iPhone or Apple Watch. As someone else pointed out, it is listed in the App store, I just checked.

As a Newbe, I find that it would be nicer if Apple and Withings Health were easier to coordinate, but they usually seem to work for me, and the reason that I bought the Withings Sleep Pad was to have a sleep monitor that works with both the iPhone and Google environment. So far I am working through the system.
