I raised the issue of overnight heart rate data from Sleep Analyzer missing in Apple Health with Withings support last week. It was syncing fine until 21st January, when something broke. This may be the day that iOS version 5.3.3 of Health Mate was pushed out. First line support were seemingly unaware that HR data did in fact sync with Apple Health, and indeed when using a Pulse HR to record sleep, it still does. I received an email today to the effect that the issue was being ‘escalated’, so we’ll see...

As to the sleep data, you should be seeing values in Apple Healtj for time in bed and time asleep. And if you examine the data sent, Withings, to their credit, include the sleep stage in the data sent. Apple Health doesn’t use this - simply showing time in bed and time asleep.

I think what the real problem here is that Apple health is part of Apple’s ‘Walled Garden’ approach to technology. We all need to urge Apple Health’s dev team to increase the invest of sleep metrics, beyond just time in bed and Time asleep.
