Long press is already used to start activity tracking with connected GPS.

Futhermore, putting too many functions in to this watch defeats the vision of having an elegant watch with only a few functions it does very well.

    Its a great idea,
It can be toggle on/off in display screen.
And the minute hand can be as chronograph to help the small screen.
I don't think that option will change the vision of elegant watch. Cuz the display screen most the time off (my opinion only)

There are many times when it would be very useful to have a stopwatch function. For example, timing some activity that you do not want to record as a workout, or timing someone else's activity (e.g. football match, running race, kids' swimming). The HR doesn't have a second hand, so that makes it difficult/impossible. It seems like this would be an easy, useful, non-complicating addition to a great product.

I'd love a stopwatch function on my Steel Sport, In fact I was disappointed there wasn't one, while I'm very happy with the watch now, if I'd known pre-purchase that there wasn't a stopwatch capability I wouldn't have purchased it.

As much as I appreciate argument about minimalism, I agree with people who request a stopwatch. You can't call watch a sport watch if it doesn't have a stopwatch. That's like a car without indicators. Plain substandard.

Ah, yes it makes sense if you can turn the function on or off from the app.

watch without stopwatch function is not really a watch, right?

I love Steel HR Sport as well, but I miss stopwatch, ideally some button combination would turn on stopwatch mode, or if this is not possible, you would choose the function from the app

one workaround is just starting "other" activity, and see total time, but there is no stop/resume and reset ... so it can't be considered as a stopwatch, really

I would also add I don't think the stopwatch would need to go to hundreds of a second, tenths would probably be enough for the majority of uses for a watch like this.

First Minute = Seconds and tenths on the screen

After 1 min = mins and secs on the screen, tenths on the minute hand?

Have it as one of the activities.

I am thinking replacing my apple watch with steel HR, but without stopwatch, I will have to pull out my iphone for it while I am sporting...

I would suggest adding another screen just for the stopwatch but having the freedom to choose whether you want the stopwatch screen or not. When in the stopwatch screen to work as tomas.bt suggested.

I agree a stopwatch would be useful. It could be an optional screen that is able to be turned on or off by options in the phone when you scroll through the different screens on the watch with a single press.

Strongly agree, I think the timer function on this watch is very necessary.
Please put it in the next update.

Indeed, this is a must have feature! The Health Mate app already allows people to choose which screens will show up on the watch and in what order, so there is no argument against having this. It will be helpful to many people, and those who don't want it can turn it off or not enable it.

I would also like to see a stopwatch function made available that doesn't activate a sports mode and has the option of being shown continuously on the screen or not.

Adding my vote to the list for both a stopwatch AND a timer function! I regularly utilize a countdown timer when I’m training or even for cooking or watering the garden and then a stopwatch would be extremely useful as well. Seems like a pretty standard/essential function for a watch. I do love the simplicity and elegance but again, these should be very standard, even for a simple smart watch. Thank you!

I love my steel HR but it has become a hassle to use the sports tracking function as a stopwatch and then having to delete it from the app later as I wasn't exercising. It's not really a sports watch if there isn't a stopwatch.

Strongly agree. I miss not having a stopwatch - the decimalized step counting dial would be perfect for showing hundredths of a second, and I bet it wouldn't take a huge amount of firmware space (big grin at software engineers!).

I have strong sympathy with the minimalism argument, but this is one of my two bugbears with the Steel HR (the other is not being able to see date AND time on the screen at the same time, which at the moment is my main argument for purchasing a Scanwatch when it comes out - apparently it does some other stuff too).

    Hello,
I am interested in buying this watch to track my body during workout (I already have the smart body analyzer), and stopwatch is a very important feature for me. GPS tracking can be very useful for running, hiking but in my case at the gym it's not useful, I would prefer a stopwatch.
(Maybe setup a "workout" activity where gps is disabled and stopwatch is available instead ?)

    Thanks for reading me
    Have a nice day

Given the upvotes and attention of this post, shouldn't Withings support team had replied with some insights on the possible implementation in a future update??

I agree that it would be good to have such a function, it could be as a type of activity, but I suggest that you also use the analog needles, mainly the one that shows the daily progress as a complement to the OLED panel

A stopwatch is the only thing that I'm missing and why I'm thinking about trying a different sport watch. Please implement this feature for Steel HR Sport. Your product is very nice otherwise. Thumbs_up.

    Thank you,
    T.

    Dear withings team,

could you at least comment something, if you considering this feature or not at all.
By looking at other feature requests - some with lower vote number are already implemented like pause/resume activity which is fantastic feature. However would be nice to know where are you with this feature request.
