Unable to update on set up

    It took me three "install" attempts for my Steel HR Sport to complete downloading the update and ultimately finalize the install/setup of my new watch. I attempted the first two new watch installs/updates using my mobile carrier's connection; both of which failed. I then switched my mobile device to use my wifi and then the download completed. I would also recommend downloading the "Steel HR - Steel HR Sport User Guide" from the product support page. The User Guide describes the steps involved for setup of the new watch in much better detail than the (lack of) feedback given by the Withings mobile app during the setup process.

    I had the same issue, I went through the recommended process of having my phone forget the Bluetooth connection to the HR Sport, followed by resetting at least 15 times.  I would then get an unexpected error message.  Sometimes it got as far as 2% before crashing.  Very frustrating, I was getting ready to send the watch back. I eventually called support, and we took the same exact steps again, and it installed/updated correctly.  My guess is that they had to do something on their end, because my previous failed attempts followed the same exact steps.

    Having the same issue with BV6000 phone. Managed to get as far as 20 per cent of the update before crash. Tried resetting both the watch and the phone multiple times, uninstall and reinstall the app, nothing works. Any advice what else I can try?

    I'm happy (although confused) to report that the solution provided by bbain indeed worked for me as well. When I tried to update using mobile connection (rock solid 4G) or or relatively weak Wi-Fi, it didn't work. On a decent Wi-Fi network I managed on a first try.

    If you are having issues installing, just call the withing support line. Nothing else worked for me. I tried everything.
