hi, I have my withings for 3 weeks now, and already have a scratch on the glass. I red somewhere that the glass is scratch-resistent. Not so... can I remplaceer the glass? Does the product portfolio also include watchers with saphire glass?
thx

I ended up going to a jeweler who was able to buff out the scratch in my watch for only $40. Then I put the $6 glass cover on it from amazon and it' been great and scratch-proof... It is pretty sad that a $200 watch comes with such crappy scratch resistance, but it's the same problem with expensive phones these days.

I ended up buying a brand new watch and putting one of these screen protectors on it:

Kind of a bummer that you need an extra screen protector but they work really great. You can't even see it once it's on the watch.

No, the glass is not easily replaceable. If you've already got scratches you're pretty much out of luck unless they are small enough to buff away. Highly recommend the screen protectors linked earlier in this thread. They come in a six-pack. I'm on my second screen protector. The first one had several scratches and dings on it, but it did its job and protected the glass underneath.

I’ve been thinking seriously about either a HR or HR sport. Then I read all the glass horrors and honestly that has given me something to think about
The Apple Watch seems to suffer from the same complaint, with their higher end Watches described as ‘Scratch Resistant’. Fitbit don’t seem to have faired much better
You have to ask is this common across all watches/tracker and is a screen protector the only way to go ?

I'd get the HR or HR sport and those screen covers I linked to above. They're super easy to apply. I put a new one on every 3-6 months depending on how scuffed up it's gotten. Screen is still crystal clear as the day I bought it. And this watch only needs to be charged once every 2-3 weeks if you're using it to regularly track workouts.
You don't want to be babysitting an ugly Apple watch and having to charge it every single day or night.

The glass is really bad quality in these Nokia/Withings watches. I strongly recommend bying a glass protector for these watches if you already ordered one. My Steel HR Sport got scratched in the middle from bottom to top (4mm wide scratch) after 2 weeks of purchase and i don't even know where. Almost as soft as plastic in my opinion.
Doesn't matter how good the product is otherwise when your screen is full of scratches and can't see the screen.
Last Withings product for me when the quality is so low. I'd wait for them to upgrade the glass quality before buying or choose an alternative product with better scratch resistance.

Tenitis thanks for your reply
After reading your post and various posts, I’m inclined to think that waiting to see if Withings will upgrade their screen is the way to go.
It does seem strange though that all the major players in this area have screen problems, and I don’t understand that. It has to be more than just keeping costs down

I bought my wife a Withings Steel HR watch before Nokia acquired it and as this thread shows, it scratches badly. It scratches as if it is plastic/acrylic, not even mineral glass (like Fossil watches use; fairly scratch resistant). I bought the Steel to monitor my sleep when it was under Nokia, and only wearing it for sleep, it has scratches.
I was hoping that since Nokia turned it back over to Withings, maybe they were using a better mineral glass. I can't find any evidence of that on their website. Screen protectors are practical, but one point of the hybrid watch is to look nice in the traditional sense. Normal mid-range watches don't need screen protectors. I bought myself a higher end Kronaby hybrid smart watch which uses Sapphire, because I don't need HR on my watch. Currently, I was looking to buy something for my daughter who needs HR, so was taking a re-look at Withings. I think I'd get the Sapphire model if it is on sale, but looks like the non-sapphire watches still have a significant scratch problem. Too bad.

I woke up this morning with a huge crack on the screen and no idea how it got there from just sleeping. But I sent a message to support and an image and they're doing an exchange for me! I read a lot on forums about them not replying great or being able to fix it, but for me all their customer support was amazing. I heard from them within 2 hours of submitting the initial request.

Hi, I got the same issue and Withings were only prepared to offer a 50% discount on a new watch. Since the old one was fine except for cracked glass, I thought it should be repairable.
I took it to a watchmaker - Precision Time in Leigh Greater Manchester. They managed to fit a new glass - high quality scratch resistant for only £25. The watch maker said the original glass took him ages to remove due to excessive use of glue. He repaired it to be waterproof too. So if anyone has same issue -get it repaired - much cheaper than replacement and better for the planet too.
