I have the same problem …. sometimes find the device but then won't connect  (message:  Connection unsuccessful.  Make sure Body Cardio F4 is turned on and in range.  My iPhone is right next to the scale …)

I had same problem today , after reading this post, I realized to manually connect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, although it didn’t work either at first. I had to forget the device on my Bluetooth list. And then let the app redetect it by close and relaunch the app. Then this time it will connect

I had a new Body Cardio, and I could only get the initial setup to work by first going into the Bluetooth settings on my iPhone device, pressing the power button on the scale for 3 seconds and then pairing with the scale when it showed up on my iPhone. After that the rest of the setup went smoothly.

I'm having the same issue. Only when I go to bluetooth, I don't see the device there. The scale simply says: healthapp.nokia.com (1/4) and doesn't do anything else. I'm using a pixel 3 w/ everything up to date. This is rubbish.

I did get a notification that said "connected to your device", but no feedback in the app. So I retried adding the device and got "configuring your Body Cardio scale..."  It just hangs there. After some fiddling with blue tooth, I am able to get the scale to say "Start app (2/4)".  So I start the app. I don't see anything in the app about the scale. So, I go and add a new device.. same thing.  Product detected, stuck on connecting.

Dave you'll need an Apple device to to the initial setup. When you use the Apple device, it updates the scales firmware. Only then you can use the Android phone to connect and complete setup. I had a similar experience like yourself

Same problem I have a body cardio 4a have tried setting it up with both a Nokia 6.1 and a Nokia 8 and no luck, the instructions are too simple and miss all the stages to expect in-between. My Nokia watch paired just fine so not sure what is going on here

Oh so your advice is to go and buy an apple phone to get a scale working?

Well I didn't say buy an apple device. I suggested for you to borrow an apple device to update your scale then you can setup as normal via the android device. This was just my experience that's all

I was just as frustrated like yourself. Until I tried to setup with an iPad. I don't know if you can update it via pc but it seems logical to be able to. You probably should contact Withings support directly

the question is why does it work on some not all I-pads and not on andriod devices? anyway I have contacted tech support I got the standard follow the instruction email, guy yeah been there done that got the t-shirt. I mean I even factory reset the damn thing. let just say I wasn't amused.

anyway now we shall see if they actually try to sort the problem out.

It is a software issue related to Bluetooth communication between my phone and the balance. I solved the issue by using an old Android phone to connect to the device to update the firmware. Then my current phone can connect to it. But the weight measurement is totally unreal, I lost half of my weight, think the left side sensor of the balance doesn't work at all.

I have contacted the support team for refund, but so far they are not very good in the communication, send me standard issue diagnostic message from Ctrl+C Ctrl+V without reading my message and attachment. Very disappointing purchasing experience. Highly doubt I will try their incoming release ECG watch.

Good man, borrowed my granddads old andriod phone and hey presto it works. So basically the problem is dodgy firmware on the scale that doesn't work with Andriod Pie 9.0. You would have thought they would have at least allowed a PC update mechanism for something like this.

Anyway all working now, but if I didn't have that old phone to borrow, I would have been up the creek with out a paddle.

I had the same experience with my iPhone XS Max. I replaced my old phone which is iPhone 6 and when I'm trying to install it with my iPhone XS Max, I couldn't pair it. Just like what the other guy did, I set up my scale again back to my old iPhone and it automatically updated the firmware of the scale. I reinstalled the scale to my iPhone XS Max and it's working perfectly now. 😊

I had to use my old Samsung Android phone to be able to install the weight. With Nokia 8.1 it was impossible to connect.

The battery level may be too low, preventing the scale from connecting with your device. Could you please replace the batteries in your scale with new, non-rechargeable batteries.

It has worked with new batteries

Tried using Health Mate App on my Sony Xperia XZ (Android Pie (9)). It discovers the Body Cardio 88 but will not configure it and as a result does not add it to my device list. I cannot do a thing with the Body Cardio, a complete and utter waste of money. I have also tried using old Apple iPhone 4S I had hanging around but that cannot use the available Health Mate App as it requires iOS 10 or higher.

It is clearly an issue with the firmware on the Body Cardio so why can't I update the firmware via the USB from my PC?

I'm having the same issue with the same mobile Sony Xperia XZ (Android Pie (9)) and the Body+. Tried using Health Mate App and also It discovers the scale but will not configure it and as a result does not add it to my device list. How we should proceed about this issue?

I could connect the scale Body + with an iphone XR (iOS 12.3.1) and then update the firmware. After that, I can finally connect with my mobile Sony Xperia XZ (Android Pie (9)).

Out of the box I couldn't get it to connect to my Nokia 8 (Android 9). After reading some of the suggestions above I was able to get it to connect to my Google Nexus 5X (Android 8.1). The Body Cardio then did the firmware update and then I could connect it to the Nokia 8 with no problems.

Same issue here. Had to do the setup with an ipad instead of my iPhone, and now the scale is updating it's firmware. Seems to be a bluetooth / wifi issue. It's a severe drawback to the product which I was hoping would be easy to setup...

I had the same issue as above.  The device did not connect at all.  The weight was also way off.  Like the sensors on the left part of the scale were broken. So I took it back to the seller and they replaced it with a new one.  I connected it in die store and all went well.

When I came home it refused to connect.  I did two factory resets and both times it failed to connect.  Then I came here and read Meiguo_Inc's comment and tried it.  I manually went into my Bluetooth settings and forgot the device. Closed the app, and then manually connected to the wifi of the device and manually connected to the Bluetooth and it worked.  I could then connect to the scale and set it up on my apartment's wifi. I was almost ready to take it back to the store again. I also found that the scale needs to be on the exact wifi it was on when setting up (for example apple-5G instead of apple) for it to sync the data to my phone.
