The scale is mixing up users

    Dear Community,

Thank you for creating this topic. I’m happy to help you assign the right user to the right weight measurement.

First of all, please know that if several users have a similar weight, three letters will be displayed on the scale. Each of those letters corresponds to the first letter in each of those aliases that have been recognized by the scale. If you want to select another user, you can lean on the right or the left until you select your alias.

If there are multiple accounts on the scale, the measurement may be assigned to a user on a different account. In this case, you will need to delete the measurement from the account to which they synced.

In order for the scale to begin to recognize you properly going forward, you must reassign the weight measurements which were assigned to a different user, to your own user. You can see how to do that by clicking here. Keep in mind that after following those steps, the measurements may once again be assigned to the wrong user the next time you weigh yourself. This means that you may have to repeat the process described in the linked article 2 or 3 times, or wait 24 hours, before the scale begins to properly recognize you.

I understand that some of you wish to reassign measurements directly via the app or to be able to modify their aliases in case two of the users have the same alias. Please know that I have forwarded this to our development team, so we can take this into consideration for a future update.

If you need further help, feel free to email us by clicking here.

    Have a nice day,

    Hello,

User recognition is only based on weight. When several users linked to the scale have similar weights, the scale should then display the 3 letters alias so that users can select the right person.

To select a user, lean toward the side of the scale with the chosen alias. The side with the more weight will select the user, as if you were just pressing it manually (or with your foot).

Unfortunately, if you selected the wrong user on the scale, the person who received the weight can only delete it from the HM app, neither him/her nor you will be able to reassign it.

So, the scale shows my husbands three letter alias. How do I get it to show my three letter alias? User selection is a very weak feature of this scale.

What if the weights are very similar, but the scale sometimes doesn’t show both user options? It’s been only showing one user ( the wrong one) and we’ve just had to delete the measurements?

here I find the same questions I have, but not yet an answer. What should I do if sometimes the scale simply gives me no option, but selects by itself the wrong user?

Apparently the solution is for my wife to shed at least 5 pounds to correct the flaw in this system

Please change the app to allow for the weight to be properly allocated to the correct user. Just deleting a weigh in defeats the purpose of the weigh in!

We have the same problem. We are two persons with similar weight in the house. I have tried adding another family member and only once did the two names appear to be chosen. I then tried deleting the him and in stead creating another separate account but that did not work either. His name never shows up and, only mine, so all measurements appear in my account. This needs to be fixed, please!

I've been dealing with BS for 2 years and now I am trying to add my Withings BPM blood pressure readings which are now tied to my wife again...now what?

C'mon NOKIA.  This should be an easy software update!

I’m also having this problem!! This is a serious DESIGN FLAW that has an easy fix! Allow us to assign and reassign measurements! Some measurements Already come thru as Un-identified and I’m allowed to assign them, so allowing us to assign all measurements doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. GET IT TOGETHER!! PLEASE!!!!

I managed to solve this in an unorthodox way, me and my partner are very similar weights, i believe i was very slightly above her. i forgot to weigh myself yesterday because our pet had to be taken into intensive care and obviously had other things to worry about. i remembered to weigh myself this morning and i'd lost the best part of half a stone (due to the worrying i expect) but it was automatically allocating it to my partner which was annoying. it took me a while to come up with a solution but i decided to put a few items of clothing on to put me to a weight that force the user selction tool to appear and the reweighed myself after without the clothing on and then deleted the false reading - hopefully that makes sense and works for you.

I have tested the scale only one day. We seem to get option to choose user from 3 family members with very similar weight. Selection is done by stepping right or left. However two of the members have exactly the same alias (same last name and same first letter in first name). So we tried to change the name of one, but it will not change the alias anymore not even after factory reset. So we deleted the account from website, but it will take 7 days it to be completely deleted, so that we can try to create the account again with false names (to get alias differentiated)

The complete failure in user recognition interface. Great product but sadly they don't get the very basics right.

Alias should be something users can modify.

Had the same issue this morning. The way I seemed to fix it was by moving the scales from hard floor to carpet

Well done! Moving it onto carpet immediately allowed me to choose who to assign it to by leaning! Thanks Hippo.

Same issues. Crazy that an update to overcome these silly issues remain outstanding. I'm now hunting for something far more accurate and user friendly. You brand has failed my family, the product is not fit for purpose!

Actually you can reassign weights to different users, you just need to use the Web interface instead of the app

I'm having the same issue and can't figure out how to reassign the measurements. I tried the link from patrick.olivan in the previous post and the Web Dashboard link said 'Not found'. I logged in to my Withings account and saw all of my measurements but could not find a 'Weight Widget' and could not find any way to even see measurements that were not already assigned to me. Any ideas?

This scale claims to use the weight of the user to "know" who it is weighing.  This is not working for the Body+ model.  I have three users all using my one account.  It does give me the option to select the user because two of us have similar weights, but I have found the middle-weight's reading assigned to the lightest user.  There is a weight difference of 52 pounds between the lightest and middle-weight users.  Luckily, I can resign the misassigned weights to the correct user using the website via the article "https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/articles/115010616168".  How can you claim it uses weight to determine who is being weighed when it mixes up users that have a delta of 52 pounds?  What can I do to fix this issue?

Actually you can reassign weights to different users, you just need to use the Web interface instead of the app

This is not actually correct because as a note on that page says, "Note: It is only possible to reassign a measurement to another user that is on the same Withings account."  My partner and I each have our own accounts, so there's no way to reassign readings, they can only be deleted.
