    Hi,

Thanks for creating this thread. Please make sure that the issue doesn’t come from the backlight. If you think this may be the case, you should reboot Body Cardio by holding the button on the right side of the scale for 20 seconds.

If your scale does not indeed turn on, here’s what to do:

    1) Reboot the scale by holding the button on the right side of the scale for 20 seconds.

    2) Wait 30 seconds, then press the button for 4 seconds. If it lights up, the scale should be configured.

    3) If it does not light up, please charge the scale for 5 hours.

    4) Weigh yourself and check if the scale now turns on. If not, please try a different micro USB cable.

If the situation persists, please send us an email via https://within.gs/help

    Good day to you,

I would try pressing and holding the button for just over 20 seconds to restart it in case it's frozen.

It's also possible that the charging cable you are using is damaged which could explain why it doesn't charge. Try charging it with a different cable and see if that helps.

It's not the damned charging cable, it's the bad soldering on the small board where the  USB socket is mounted inside the device. I identified the part that was responsible, it was actually a manufacturing defect!!!!! (infact bad soldering from their supplier in China!!!) from a component that likely cost less than 50 cents. So you'd think they'd show me some love for identifying a problem with the quality control? Not at all.

I told Withings what I found, they passed on the details to their engineering team, escalated it, and all I ended up with was refusal to replace the part. This resulted in me not being able to charge the battery as it's where the bad solder occurs on the USB socket. I ended up bypassing it, but I have no means of replacing the board  unfortunately, and Withings has left me high and dry. All I got was "have an ice day". I have to actually remove the battery to charge it now, which is a really annoying process. SO despite what "Chris" said in his response, I dont have a satisfactory solution.

I would NEVER buy another product from Withings ever again, absolute garbage product support.

Expensive scale, shoddy soldering, likely to fail within a year or two, and no way to repair it. These idiots should RECALL the scale, bcs it's clear so many of them are failing.

This solution works 100 percent. Charge the device for about three hours as the battery must be totally drained. Disassociate the product from app and remove from Bluetooth under devices.

Press the button on the side of the scale for 15 seconds until the display turns to hello , keep the button pressed on  the scale until the factory reset gauge fills. The scale's screen will display the word "Factory", confirming the reset. At this time, you can start the installation process for the Withings Body Cardio.

I do have the exact same problem. Customer support offered me 25% discount on a new scale, which is absurd. There is no way I will spend a penny on any of their defective products. I used this product for less than 2 years and now does not work anymore. Instead of repairing, replacing, or refunding it, I have to buy another scale, which will last for one year or even less, before it stops working. Believe me when I say that some canned food stay longer than your rubbish product. Shame on you!!

    Hi Anthony,

Did you ever manage to source the small board ?

My Body Cardio (second one -- Withings replaced the first one) also became faulty. Upon taking it apart, it seems that the three small "curiously positioned" holes in the metallic base of the Body Cardio allow the humidity of a bathroom environment to corrode the small board.

When I disconnect the small board, my Body Cardio functions. But when I reconnect the small board, my Body Cardio does not function (i.e. the screen remains off). It seems that the corrosion on the small board is shorting out the main board of the Body Cardio. The only way I can currently use my Body Cardio is to have the small board disconnected.

I have contacted Withings support to see if they can supply me with a replacement small board.

    Hello there,

    I got the same issue.

I tried to open it but after removing the 4 screws I don't know how to remove the back cover.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks before.

    Chris

    Hi thèse,

    Following on my former post.

I was able to open my body cardio, thanks to Ifixit forum.

I did check and find that the battery was dead.

I replace the battery with one I take from an old phone.

The withing battery is same as Samsung I9300 model.

You can find it for less than 10 bucks !!!

It is a mess withing hide this know issue and only propose a 25% rebate for such a product.

    Hope this helps

    Chris

Body cardio stopped working after minimal use as for other users.

Battery does not charge or respond

i have been trying to send it back to withings but they can't even send me a working link to print the returns label

the company is a joke. the products are a joke and a rip off

I've given up trying to deal with them - the scales is going in the bin

Mine also stopped working just 2 months after the 2 year warranty. Really disappointed as I loved the scales and they're so expensive for just 2 years usage! I had contacted them to ask about replacement but I guess that won't happen based off of everyone else's experiences above!!

I also experienced this issue. It's poor design on their part to have that USB module corrode so easily when obviously these scales will live in humid bathrooms.  I contacted support and they only offered a 25% off a new one. I opened it (following iFixit guide, be patient with the double sided tape). As soon as I unplugged the USB module I could see corrosion in it. With this module unplugged, the LCD came on and it began operating correctly. I cleaned out the module with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush and surely enough it began working/charging again. Do better Withings/NOKIA...

I had bought this scale a couple of years ago. The battery lasted for a year. When I tried to charge it it would not come back on. Although my app said 23% charged it did not come on. It was a hassle getting a hold of someone to help me. Finally they sent me a new one and sent me the stuff I needed to mail the one I had to them. It’s been another year now since I have had this new one and the battery died so I went to charge it and it is doing the exact same thing as last time. The first go around they tried to tell me it was my charging cable but it wasn’t for I used the one it came with, as well as buying other ones and it still didn’t work. Having this happen a second time in a row, there is clearly a manufacturing issue. They used to have a phone number but now I can’t find one and have no way to contact someone to get some assistance. With this scale being so expensive, it’s ridiculous that there isn’t great customer service support, or that the issue of these scales not charging up and turning back on once the battery dies isn’t fixed yet.
