The X means the Pulse Hr is already connected to your phone via Bluetooth. To solve the issue and complete the installation process could you please open the Bluetooth settings of your phone and "forget" / "disconnect" the tracker?
It might be useful to restart your smartphone too. Then simply follow the set up process as explained here: https://support.withings.com/hc/articles/360011184554.
Please also make sure your smartphone is compatible with Pulse HR. The list of all devices can be found on this page:
