If I remember correctly, it was an issue with the older original Steel HR, but not a problem with the newer Steel HR Sport.

Agreed. That's why I was curious how old the watch was

There are at least 3 Steel HR productions during different times and there is probably no sure way to tell between options 1 and 3, as some sellers might have stock from a very long time ago:

    1) The original Withings Steel HR (produced before Nokia bought Withings) - I had one and never wore it to shower or pool - still it had condensation under class when I was out in slightly cold weather. Sent it back to Amazon for a refund. It was scary to read how Withings responded on their page that "having moisture in the watch was OK". It's not.

    2) The Nokia Steel HR (produced after Nokia bought Withings) - I have not read about Nokia branded watches having condensation issues.

    3) The new Withings Steel HR (produced by Withings after the Nokia era) - I just got one (special edition, so definitely new) and just hope that the condensation issues have not returned.

The Steel HR which had the condensation problem had a plastic body for the heart rate sensor. The Nokia and Withings Steel HR since then have a more solid back case construction using no exposed plastic parts. Here's a picture so you can recognize which type you have:

    (from this cool blog http://myphotojourney.co.uk/nokia-steel-hr-watch/)

I'm sure if you show their customer support that your steel hr has condensation inside they will be able to help you.

For me, an RMA was processed to replace the watch.  I have not had any issues since.
