One thing I loved when I owned a Garmin fitness tracker was the ability to engage in weekly step challenges with users all over the world. If you joined the weekly step challenge you would be added to a group of 10 people who all have similar average weekly step counts, you'd then compete weekly to be number 1. I loved that they didn't have to be friends you've added to the app, they could be anyone. I don't know anyone else with at Withings fitness tracker, so it would be great to compete with people I don't know. Fitbit also locks its step challenges to just approved friends. I always found the Garmin way to be the best. Open it up to anyone, anywhere. Makes the step challenge more fun.

I find the step count on the Steel HR to be not far off from what Apple Health logs. Unfortunately, Fitbit was one of the first major trackers out there and people got the idea that their step count was the standard (and accurate). Fitbit grossly over counts steps. I mean by the thousands. I discovered this when I got a Garmin watch a while ago and was shocked by how much lower my daily step count was, until I realized that Garmin was in reality way more accurate. Fitbit will give you steps for moving your arm, brushing your teeth, standing up, sitting down etc. I actually find Withings to be maybe 500 to a 1000 steps lower on a typical day than Apple Health, but Fitbit will be nearly 3000-5000 OVER my Apple Health count on any given day. So I am satisfied with Withings.
