    Hi,

If your scale only shows your weight, please check this article first:

    - Body Cardio - My scale doesn't measure body composition. What should I do?

    Please make absolutely sure that:

    1) Impedance is enabled. For that, please open Health Mate and go to My Devices > Body Cardio > Fat mass and heart rate measurement.

    2) The options you want displayed on your Body Cardio are enabled. This article here will give you more details about this.

    3) The battery level is above 15%. If not, charge for 5 hours.

    4) You weigh yourself barefoot and that your feet are dampened, or at least not too dry.

    5) The scale recognizes you. If not, you will see an “X” under your trigram.

If you are already following these criteria, please:

    1) Clean your scale. You can follow the instructions here.

    2) If the situation persists, reset the scale by holding the button for 20 seconds. Wait 30 seconds, and then take a measurement again.

If you’re still not able to see your body composition or your heart rate, a factory reset might be needed. For that, you will need to:

    1) If you are using your Body Cardio in Bluetooth, go to the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device and locate the scale which will show up as Body Cardio XX. Select the gear or 'i' icon to the right of it, depending on your mobile device, and you will have the option to 'forget' or remove the scale

    2) Dissociate the scale from your account by opening Health Mate and going to My devices > Body Cardio > Dissociate from my account.

    3) Hold the button on the side of the scale for 8 seconds and then release it. A menu will appear with an arrow and three options: mac, upgrade, reset.

    4) Tap the button on the side of the scale until the arrow is on “reset”.

    5) The scale will now reset and will be ready to be configured.

I hope I was able to help you. If the situation persists, don’t hesitate to check @peiffer.dc’s and @rollog60’s comments. You can also send us an email via https://within.gs/help

    Happy posting,

I got a random reading out of the blue a couple days ago, but nothing since. Tried adjusting position and wet/dry feet to no avail.

Hi, I have the same problem. The scale stopped reading most of the measurements, including the newly reintroduced PWV.

I have updated, and reinstalled the device without any success. I have not yet done the factory reset. The scale is 3 years old and has worked perfectly until mid-March this year. Hoping for a smart Nokia technician to solve this problem please!

I have the same problem. About the only measurement that is correct is the weight. Everything else is way off. I don't need this scale if it won't give me all the other measurements. I want a refund.

If your Body Cardio scale is not giving you body composition measurements, you may try performing the steps in this article https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015618513. I hope this works.

Try going to your mobile app and in the settings, tell it to forget the wifi you're connected to. Then tell it to connect to wifi so it will look for your wifi. This solved all my problems.

I’ve switched the following marked in the screenshot off and on (waited between a minute or so) and afterwards it worked again. Now with BPM Core together I have 4 measures for the heart :)

    SOLVED PROBLEM (with a drawback)

I had the same problem with my scale only being able to read weight but NOT body fat, water, muscle, etc.

    I tried
    - Resetting the scale
    - Forgetting the scale in my phone's Bluetooth menu
    - Logging out and back into the app
    - Removing other Bluetooth devices and all other Withings devices from the app

Nothing worked until I did this. Test it for yourself.

    1) Factory reset the scale by holding the button for about 30 seconds
    2) Remove the scale from your phone's Bluetooth menu
    3) Removing the scale from the Withings Healthmate app
    4) Log out of the app
    5) Log back into the app using a DIFFERENT or a NEW profile. This may require that you make a new account with a different email address.
    6) Log back into the app and set up devices like new

    Fixed.

The obvious flaw to this fix is that you lose all previous health data. I know it's a huge bummer but I wanted my devices to work.

So what did this tell us? The problem is clearly not with the scale itself but how an account linked to the app is communicating with the scale. For some reason your Account/Profile is the problem. It prevents the scale from offering up body composition readings.

I honestly think Withings did not know how to recreate this problem and what could have been causing it. Hopefully they read this, or the email I have sent them with the same information.

I noticed this problem only began to happen after I allowed my son who only weighs 40 pounds to use the scale. It’s not designed to read body fat, muscle mass and water weight on a person that small. I accidentally linked his reading under my profile in the app. From this point forward I could not get the proper readings when I myself stepped onto the scale.

I did not test creating a new profile under the same account to see if that could fix the problem. But I don’t think it will.

Hope this information helps someone who was frustrated like myself.

    SOLVED PROBLEM (no drawbacks :)

Background (skip if you don't care)

I've been having this issue since mid December 2020 (about a month).  I thought it was a hardware problem but as the very helpful posts in this thread made me realise, it's a sync or account problem.  Basically - the Body Cardio scale thinks it has been told not to even try to measure your body composition.

Now, the occasional sporadic issue with body composition measurement is likely due to humidity, skin dryness, etc etc.  For me with those issues, it would fail on the heart rate and then subsequently fail on the composition (I have the screens in that order) presumably because they use the same mechanism to get a reading.

One other thing I noticed was that I added the step count screen in the Health Mate app (since I got a Steel HR recently), and it wasn't syncing that either (despite saying it would be synced on the next weigh in).  I was still seeing my weight readings in the app though, so it was syncing one way apparently.

For the record, my Body Cardio is on firmware version 1871.

    Problem

Your Withings or Nokia Body Cardio scale is no longer or has stopped measuring or showing the body composition measurements (body fat percentage, muscle mass percentage, bone mass percentage, body water percentage), and possibly it has stopped reading heart rate also.  The other readings (weight primarily) are unaffected.  When you weigh yourself, the scale shows a flashing "X" immediately for the affected items, instead of a progress indicator.  This is an ongoing problem as opposed to a sporadic issue.

    Solution

I tried a modified version of ikkerus' solution using peiffer.dc's background info on their solution - basically we are forcing a connection between the app and the scale via the "Check for update" function.  Here are the steps (valid as of Jan 2021, may change as the app/scale gets updated but you will be able to figure it out.  I used iOS but the Android app is much the same):

    1. With your scale nearby, open the Health Mate app and go to the Devices screen
    2. For your Body Cardio, tap "All Settings"
    3. Scroll down and under "About" tap "Check for updates"
    4. Follow the instructions.  Have your phone close as it uses Bluetooth to connect.  The scale automatically updates so there will likely be no updates.  That doesn't matter, we're just using this to sync the settings.
    5. Once the update check process has finished and the scale's screen has switched off, scroll up the app a little and under "Advanced Settings" set "Send debug data" and "Fat mass and heart rate measurement" to the "off" or "disabled" position.
    6. Go through the "Check for updates" process again.  This should sync your settings to the scale.
    7. When the update check is done and the scale screen switches off, weigh yourself.  You should now see the flashing X immediately for both heart rate and body composition screens.  This is what we want to see, as it matches the options we just set.
    8. Now go back into the app and under "Advanced Settings" set "Send debug data" and "Fat mass and heart rate measurement" to the "on" or "enabled" position.
    9. One last time, go through the "Check for updates" process to sync the settings to the scale.
    10. When the update check is done and the scale screen switches off, weigh yourself.  You should now get readings (or least attempts) for both heart rate and body composition screens.  The scale now knows once again that it should try to get readings for both.

Thanks to all the reports in this thread but especially ikkerus and peiffer.dc, and hopefully this helps anyone who comes across this thread in the future.

Overall I have been very impressed with Withings vs my previous experiences with Fitbit (whose watches failed constantly and whose scale never worked properly from day one) so hopefully they'll solve this issue and prevent the need for these workarounds in the future.

I see there's an official Withings answer now (thanks Withings!) but just to follow up - happy to report that my Body Cardio has been working fine since my post six months ago, no more workarounds required.
