    Hello,

Sorry that some of you are not getting all of their notifications. For those who haven’t tried this before, please check the following articles:

    - Steel HR / Steel HR Sport - Enabling notifications on my watch

    - Steel HR / Steel HR Sport - I'm having issues with notifications. What should I do?

Could you please also check if:

    1) Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

    2) Notifications are enabled in Health Mate. For that, place your watch next to your mobile device, open Health Mate, and then go to My Devices > Steel HR > Notifications. There, ensure that the notifications are enabled for apps you want to get notifications from.

    3) Notifications are activated directly on your Steel HR/Sport. To enable or disable them, you can press the button on your watch and cycle through the screens until you reach the “Notifications” screen. Press and hold the button to turn notifications on or off.

For Android users, make sure that:

    1) Battery Optimization for Health Mate is turned off. You can do that by going to the Settings of your phone > Battery > Options (on the top right-hand side of the page) > Battery Optimization. From there, find Health Mate, select “Don't Optimize”, and then tap “Done”.

    2) Silent Mode is not enabled.

For iOS users, make sure that:

    1) Text message notifications are activated. You can check this by going to the Settings of your phone > Notifications > Messages. There, please tap on “Allow Notifications”.

    2) Do Not Disturb mode is not enabled. If it is activated, please go to the Settings of your phone > “Do Not Disturb” and deactivate it.

    3) For users of iOS 11 or earlier: Make sure that “Show in History” is selected for the notifications you want to receive. To do this, please go to the Settings of your phone > Notifications > DESIRED APP and then activate “Show in History”.

    4) For users of iOS 12: Make sure that the box for “Notification Center” is selected under “Alerts” for the notifications you want to receive. To do this, please go to the Settings of your phone > Notifications > DESIRED APP and select the box for “Notification Center” so that it shows a blue checkmark underneath.

    5) For users of iOS 13 and 14: Make sure that the “Show Previews” functionality is set to either “Always” or “When Unlocked” for the notifications you want to receive. To do this, please go to the Settings of your phone > Notifications > DESIRED APP. Under “Show Previews”, please select “Always” or “When Unlocked”.

Here are some tips you can also try if you don’t receive notifications anymore:

    1) Open Health Mate and swipe down to force your watch to sync with the app.

    2) You can also try to “forget” your watch from your Bluetooth settings and to dissociate it from the app. After that, please reconnect your watch.

If the situation persists and you haven’t done it already, a factory reset could help. For that, please:

    1) Dissociate your Steel HR/Sport. To do that, open Health Mate and go to “My Devices”> “Steel HR/Sport”. Scroll down and select “Dissociate this product”.

    2) Go to the “Settings” of your mobile device, select Bluetooth and locate your watch in the list of devices. Select the small icon to the right and then the option to “forget” the device.

    3) Press and hold the button on the side of the watch for 5 seconds. Workout mode will start after pressing the button for about one second, but continue pressing until a menu appears on the watch's display.

    4) When on this menu, press the watch button until the screen shows “Factory Reset”. Then, press and hold the watch button for one second: you will see “Reset in 5 clicks”.

    5) Press the button 5 times and the watch will be reset to factory settings.

I hope I was able to help you. If you’re still not able to receive your notifications, I invite you to email us via https://within.gs/help. You can tell my colleagues that you have already followed the instructions indicated here.

    Have a great day,

I have the same annoying issue. I am working with apps professionally and I think I have found the cause.
First time it appeared I reset the watch. Works again. Then after a couple of days I went to the cinema and set the phone to do-not-disturb. And after that - disabling the DND feature on the phone, I am not receiving any notifications on the watch.

Could that also be what is causing your watches/app not to work? Must be fixable in a app/watch update.

Hope someone from support or product management is aware and reads the posts in the forum.

Darn, well I’m glad it’s not just my watch in a way. The fact that this problem has existed for over 4 months and they haven’t fixed with an update is concerning :/ I’ve pretty much stopped wearing my watch because the notifications was my main draw for getting this watch.

Withings if you are following this thread, can you confirm that this is a problem that is actively being worked on?

I am getting all notifications except from iPhone text messages. This started when I switched from iPhone 7 to an iPhone 11---iOS12 to iOS13. I am getting close to ditching my Steel HR to try out a Garmin instead.

jenskerritt24 I already had this set the way you recommend. However, I can get notifications to work for a period of time (see my post above). Maybe it will work for some people who have never gotten it working.

Update: iOS 13 upgrade seems to have helped. If I make sure I open the Health Mate app once a day, I generally get notifications on my watch. Sometimes I still need to turn on/off Bluetooth on my phone though. This may be because I often leave my watch at home while I walk in the morning, thereby losing the Bluetooth connection. However I also needed to factory reset the watch to get notifications working again once the watch battery got low (10%). No idea why.

Summary: Still annoying hoops to jump through that I did not need to do with other smart watches. I suspect this is at least partially caused by a restriction of iOS. But if that is the case WHY IS WITHINGS SUPPORT NOT POSTING HERE to at least acknowledge the issue. For sure, this lack of after purchase support means this is the last Withings product I will own.

Mine is doing that too. I got mine a few weeks ago
And I’ve had problems with notifications the whole time. I have to undo and redo Bluetooth on my phone at least once a day because I stop receiving notifications. I’ve also had to factory reset twice. I’m thinking of returning it. I love it so much but I mainly got it for notifications. Did you do a factory reset?

I’ve been having the same problem with my watch. It worked perfect the first two days after I set it up and then the notifications stopped working. I have been in contact with Withings customer service and done everything that they’ve told me to do twice. After the second time they told me they couldn’t do anything more and that I would need to wait for an update for my watch to work Properly. I’ve had the watch now for two weeks. Notifications have not been working stinks since I paid $200 for the watch .

Same issue here; started a few weeks ago.  Like martinskydt, I've noticed that when I manually turn on do not disturb on my iPhone, the notifications stop, however they never resume when I turn DND off.  I have DND set to automatically turn on at night, but I think I've received notifications the next day after coming out of that DND based on a routine (need to verify).

As a temporary fix, I've been able to factory reset my watch (hold the button in for many seconds), disassociate the watch from my account through the healthmate app, unpair/"forget" the watch from my phone's bluetooth settings, and re-add the watch through the healthmate app.  The notifications work for some time after that, but then stop at some point.  I'm going to try to disable the auto DND feature to see if that helps.

I am having this issue too! I would like to hear from Withings as to when there will be an update. I didn't spend $300 to have a watch that I can't get notifications on!!

doesn't work for me either, I'm using it professionally and this is really frustrating! I've had the Steel HR for 3 years and it was perfect, but now changing to another brand! will probably never use again!

Had mine for 3 months now.  Showing notifications is spotty at best.  Sometimes I will get them for days on end and then all of a sudden they stop.  Sometimes restarting the phone helps.  They started working after an IOS update but that lasted for a week or so then they stop.  I have done a factory reset and that temporarily helps but that is a pain.  I love the watch because I want a classic face with real hands and a lot of the smart watch features.  This fits the bill but not if I don't get updates from my phone.

I've had a Steel HR Sport for over a year now. Notifications finally seem to consistently work after iOS 13 upgrade IF I remember to run the Health Mate app to re-establish a connection after taking my phone out of range of the watch AND factory reset the watch after recharging when it gets low (about 5% or less).

Also not getting notifications anymore on my Steel HR (christmas gift).

Stopped working several days ago. I have Samsung S9 with Android 9, latest updates

I really like the Steel HR for the cool design but that is now a major drawback.

Why does Withings not react ?

I also have the Scale Body+, great piece of engineering

I have the same issues.  I have to repair Bluetooth and sometimes turning my phone on/off works. I have also done factory resets and uninstall of the app. None of it resolves it permanently . This is quite annoying as I have to do this almost daily now.

Last night, I noticed that when notifications stop working, sleep also stops tracking!  It shows no activity after 3 AM.

    I am on IPhone X - 12.2

Just want to add another upvote for this. This is my only complaint about my Steel HR: notifications are inconsistent. I am on latest 12.x iOS iPhone and just today I had to Factory Reset my Steel HR to get notifications working again. Normally I have to turn off and on Bluetooth once a day to keep it working. After a week or so, I have to reboot my iPhone. Then after practicing that voodoo for about a month, it takes a factory reset of the watch to get it working again. I've gotten in the habit of doing a factory reset of the watch every time I charge it.

The most annoying thing is that I can't predict when the notifications will stop. So I end up missing an important notification before I realize I need to try again.

This is unacceptable. I have had a Pebble and a Martian watch and neither had problems with notifications. I am seriously considering selling my Steel HR and buying a Garmin Vivomove or break down and get an Apple Watch (ew!).

    Not all notifications are received.

Steel HR && Xiaomi MiBand work in parallel, Xiaomi shows all notifications, while Steel HR remains mute.

From time to time Steel HR "wake ups" (without doing some actions on my phone, like enable - disable Bluetooth, restart, and so on), and starts to show notifications for some time. After some period of time - again, Steel HR becomes mute.

When Steel HR is 'mute', no notifications are arriving (incoming calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and so on).

Status of Steel HR - 'connected' in Health Mate,

Hello, same issues, I have Withings HR Steel purchased 2 days ago. Set it up and all fine with notification of phone call coming through. Then all notifications stopped, and have never received a text notification. Re-paired and updated my iPhone, still nothing. Updated Withings App and still nothing. I've wasted AU$240 on this piece of rubbish. Also the plastic band is itchy and sweating on my wrist. I should have realised a product about the third the cost of an Apple Watch wasn't going to be any good.

I've had pretty much the same issues. Received text messages for about 3 days then stopped working ever since. Never ever received an email notification, the only thing that seems to work ok are news notifications. Tried to pair/unpair, tried to contact support who says "hey, wait for a new update!", this is pretty annoying and I'm apparently not the only one. HELLO WITHINGS, CAN YOU HEAR US?

Bought mine yesterday and can’t get text notifications to work. Phone calls do. iPhone X on iOS 13.3. Tried everything in this section, still doesn’t work. Planning to return it if support can’t fix it

I have had the same problem.  I tried adrianvlupu's suggestion in the Bluetooth setting, and that still did not fix my issue.  All message notifications settings are "on".  All other attempts to restart, reload, re-everything have been tried.  Still no text/call notifications.  Frustrating...  They used to work flawlessly.

I’ve had the watch for 6 months now and love it. The only problem I’m having is with notifications, they are very inconsistent. I may not get notifications then when I wake my phone I may get some texts, emails and/or appointments, and sometimes they can be up to a day old. I purchased a cheap HRM watch from AliExpress that works awesome for notifications, this is why I don’t understand why Withings cant figure this out. Are they actually listening?

So I posted a couple of months ago about how I was having problems. I found a workaround that hopefully works for some of you. If you go to settings>notifications>messages and show previews “when unlocked”, my messages started to show up on my watch. Let me know if this works for any of you.

    Hi,

had the same problem....but the solution in iOS 13 is hidden in settings - notifications - messages - show previews - you have to switch it from Never to When Unlocked (or Always). Gosh I did everything possible and the problem has been in this f....section.

Well, I don't think that full reset solve the problem. It seems to me that iOS 13 pushed harder on the settings this time. So try to go through settings in the Health Mate app + in settings - notifications one more time and switch everything "enable" when possible. Or it could be that the hardware sucks of course.

Got it!! Notifications for the messages themselves has to be show previews when unlocked, not just the Health Mate app
