The app said update available so I updated the watch. After download the watch restarted but did not reconnect. I tried everything I could think of. Re-install the app, reset the watch. The app see the watch, I can pair it but I get the screen "device doesn't respond Please try again"
The worse bit is that it looks like there is no support from Withings but a forum.
Update: I find the way to contact Withings contact-sup@withings.com . So far the communication is on but no solution yet.
Update 2: As I am in Australia, I have to deal with the store I purchase the watch from. No acknowledgement that the new firmware have an issue.

Thats strange. Mine updated yesterday and worked perfectly first time! Have you tried,
A) turning off bluetooth, turning on again and reconnecting.
B) clearing data from the app and retrying
C) Factory reset the watch, disassociate it from the app, delete the app and reinstall.
hope this helps.

Ok so the bottom like here is what I did and it solved the problem
1. Factory Reset the Watch
2. Log out and delete the app from the phone,
3. Go into bluetooth settings on your phone and forget the device
4. Add back the app and sign in and add the device as you normally would i.e pair it again
5. Smile again as it is working, as for contacting anyone they respond to emails in time
This is the link I used to get the info to solve it
Copy paste and go

It finally worked for me. What I had to do was:
try a couple of times
reset watch to factory settings
try some more
Turn phone off then back on
Turn bluetooth off, then back on
Delete and reinstall healthmate app
try several times
reset watch to factory settings again
delete flash-cache in watch
try several times again
send another e-mail to customer service
start tracking how far along it got before the dreaded "X" and "An unexpected error has occurred"
Then, on the third attempt, the update finally installed completely.
Over 1.5 hours and a few dozen attempts.

This is really frustrating. I have two Steel HR and after update to newest sw version (5971) both of them stopped working with my HTC U11 (Android 8) one of them I managed to pair with Nokia 6.
There are some reddit threads with people coplaining about recent update (the same issue, watch isn't visible for the phone). Withings at least should allow to downgrade firmware or something like this, its critical SW bug and it shoudn't be released with bug that blocks all od the watch functions (can't connect with health mate, you are unable to set even the time, not mentioning smart features of the watch). I can live without Snooze feature (now I'm living without any Steel HR features).
Customer support is giving some useless advices and I think no one from Withings will say: "Ok, we messed it up, sorry, we will fix this ASAP". Just taking customers time for reseting, clearing cache, uninstalling app and so on without any effect.
Dear Withings please fix this issue or provide some working workaround!
