I had the same issue as you, the watch suddenly stopped working and responding even for a hard reset. I contacted the support but meanwhile I washed the device with worm water and cleaned the charger connectors (saw this advice on the forum).
The watch was kept untouched for about 6 hours and after that when I tried to charge it, the screen displayed 0% battery. I disconnected it and restarted the watch before reconnecting it on the charger. Now it is working!
Don't be desperate, I hope it will be fixed for you.

@xlotti77 Just try to leave the watch for some time (it took 6 hours for me), then go back and try to charge it.

Looks like it's alive again! This is what did the trick for me:
1- Left watch alone (not worn) for 24h+ (possibly draining any battery left, did not wash it as some suggested)
2- Put on charge for 2h+ even if nothing occurred on the screen when I put the watch on the charger
3- Clicked on the button (it responded) and re-paired bluetooth (I had previously removed it)
Thanks for all your suggestions

Mine it's alive too. Followed posted recommendations and left it out of the charger for 24 hours until phone application pop up notification stating that watch battery was fully depleted. Then I placed on the charger and started charging fine for 2 hours to a 100%. Since then, so far so good.

Glad I found this forum! Had similar issue, watch became totally unresponsive even though had reasonable charge level. Usual scripted suggestions from support, washing in soapy water etc., Instead followed suggestions above and tried the leaving it off charge for a day and then to my relief the watch responded to button press with a "low battery" message. Watch now charges successfully and seems back to normal. Given the number of people having this issue I'm hoping that despite Withings being seemingly "in denial" about this issue that I hope they are coming up with a fix in the background.

Ugh. My watch died yesterday. I did all of the things suggested on the support page. It just jumps between and X and the bluetooth symbol on the screen. I submitted a help ticket. If no help from Withings then I guess I'll try the suggestions above. Wish me luck.

It was the same for me. I tried all the things what I found here and on reddit.
Currently waiting for the replacement charger (it was the support team last idea). Hope it will solve this problem.
All the things what I tried:

My HR STEEL died today at 18:56. The screen stays black and the button does not work. On my iPhone the charge stayes at 100% and all other functions are grey and not working to change anything. What can I do to repair this issue

Have you tried leaving the watch off the charger for a day? When my watch was unresponsive (black round screen, button didn't do anything) I followed the suggestion made by others on this forum to leave it off the charger for 24hrs or so and it worked for me at least. Seems that in some cases the watch locks up completely and needs to drain the battery in order to reset it. From what you've described sounds like the watch is not actually connected to your phone app (which was the case for me also). It's worth a go anyhow, if this doesn't work then you'll have to try and raise a support ticket with Withings (good luck with that!)
