I have bought two Body Cardio scales, the most recent one purchased in 2018.   The Pulse Wave Velocity function was unilaterally deactivated by Withings.   In 2019 Withings announced that PWV was being reactivated but it doesn't work.   Withings?   How do you fix this?

I'm having the same issue. I have a Body Cardio with the FW 1811 and my PWV is not working. I know that the PWV got recently enabled in EU and that US is still blocked from the feature but I don't live in the US. Would it ever be enabled back for outside of US usage?

If you don't mind my asking, what is Pulse Wave Velocity, and if it doesn't have it, what DOES it use to gauge body fat?  Reason I ask is, it has Athlete Mode, which I am not and which it set it to by default.  So why would it need an Athlete mode if it has the technology to tell what is fat and what is not?  Sounds suspiciously like it is just going by BMI tables.

    Hi,

I think Pulse Wave Velocity has nothing directly todo with body fat - but I am not a medicin prof.

Here an excerpt from the official Withings page:

...Body Cardio measures Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), recognized by the medical community as an indicator of overall cardiovascular health. PWV is the propagation speed of the blood wave along the arteries...

I dont really want to discuss the sense or non-sense of meauring this value - I am just asking, why my scale is not providing this function - although it is beeing advertised and: I paid for it....

Some update to the original question:

Yesterday I deleted my son as Withings Family member - made him an own withings account and shared the sale with him (this is the 2nd option you can share a scale - either by family member OR by inviting another real withings user). Funny is - as my son entered the scale - I saw a new screen, saying that 1 of 5 measures for this Puls Wave Velocity has been made !
So, I guess - in principle the scale is capable of measure this - just not for me, who is using withings account and App with different devices since more then 5 years......

Yep. Same with me. Works for added person (I used option 1 to add them). But doesn't work for me.

So, Dominic, and bjostmeyer, are you in the U.S.?  So if I set up a new account for myself the PUlse Wave Velocity will work?

    Hi bwv3
I'm in the UK. Scales bought in the UK. PWV will only work only in Europe.
If you set up a new account that might work. You might have to delete your old account (If you had one). Otherwise the scales won't know which account to select when it sees a weight that is similar to your old account.

OK, Thank you.  Surely someone knows a hack where I can pretend to be from UK or Europe somewhere.

Mich from support got in touch after I reported the issue.
Here's what the fix was for me:

Ensure that the Pulse Wave Velocity screen is enabled for any user that wishes to receive Pulse Wave Velocity measurements. You can do this in the Health Mate app by selecting My Devices → Selecting the scale → Screen Customization → Selecting the user and then adding the Pulse Wave Velocity Screen
    Then re-synch and then re-weigh

I am living in Germany. I dont really want to delete my account - I have this account since 5 years had/have a couple of different devices and dont want to loose all that data...

However - although I was sure that I did add the PWV to my screen - I just checked again - and it was disabled .......eeeeehm.....

So, I enabled it again - and will see what next measurement will result. - I will keep you all posted.

Yeah - I do have the PWV measurement now - it seems that I really just have  not added it to the list of measures that are to be shown on the screen of the scale.

Soooo in order to activate you have to do two setups in your scale settings - enable the measurement AND add it to the screen - now I am happy. Thanks everybody....
