Same here. Every attempt has been “Inconclusive”.
Hopefully the software will improve and this feature will be useable soon.

Exactly the same case. I experimented all night in absolute silence. Windows closed, computer turned off. Of ~ 70 measurements managed to collect only 5! Is it not related to excess fat? I'm 120 kg and it's hard to get to the ribs. Could this be the reason?

Today I tried again with a t-shirt and without. On average One successful(Heart Sounds Normal) measurement succeeds at 10(inconclusive). And I can't understand why, I'm trying to hit as close to the ribs as possible. And can't find regularities. When playing a recording(inconclusive) - the rhythm really can't be heard, but the heartbeat is clearly heard on successful recordings, so the device is selectively deaf.

I finally managed to get some results but I have to literally cross my arm in front of my body so that the stethoscope will be pressing in front of my heart for it to record something! Not how it looks like on the videos! I tried several times being straight and press it under my armpits, ribs slightly in front, slightly behind!!! It doesn't work well as illustrated in the videos!!!
    It's frustrating!!!

As chep said, putting the left hand on the right upper arm or shoulder so that the stetho is fully in contact with the skin directly on the heart seems to work.

Same goes for me.  Withings are looking into it but if they can't get it to work, I’ll be asking for my money back!

Biteaumaxime  - Although I did manage it to work but firstly, it was an awkward position unlike as shown on the instruction video.  Second, the results were in consistent as well.  Sometimes the sound was clear but most of the time the recorded sound was very vague but got accepted.

For a product that cost ca. 250$, this is disappointing and wrong advertisement !!!

I received my BPM Core on 25th July 2019 and since then I measured my blood pressure and ECG at least 40 times, but each time the result for heart sounds is inconclusive despite that I tried all possible positions with and without wearing a T-shirt or shirt. The results for blood pressure and ECG are fine but the inconclusivenes of heart sounds is very disappointing.
Bearing in mind the reactions of the other respondents, it seems to be a general problem of BPM Core.
Dear Withings, please provide a solution.

After a few days of testing I'm slightly more positive. As with a lot of health apps these days AI is an important part of the process. The CORE has 'to learn about you'. My findings sofar:

    * Wearing 'nothing' gives more succesfull readings then with a shirt on

    * I have more succesfull readings when I 'only' use the ECG function and measuring instantly, no 5 minutes waiting. That sounds familiair because I used a AliveCor Kardia before the CORE and a succesfull ECG always corresponded with a certain heartritm.

    * Measurements are becoming more in line with the instruments I used sofar: a Quardio Arm and the AliveCor Kardia. The CORE is definitly learning

After having 100% inconclusive readings for several days, I found by luck the almost perfect position, works 90% of the time. It's not awkard but different from the what instructions or video say. The most similar position I can think about is the starting position of the volleyball serve, holding the ball with the palm Upward, I hope this link works: https://betteratvolleyball.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/largejeffunder1.jpg
Sthetoscope should be at the height ofr slightly down of your left nipple, about 2cm afar (toward your left arm). The cilinder would be on the left upper side of your arm: be sure that the metal part does not touch the inner side of your elbow/arm.
You shall be asked to have 5 good conclusive readings before you get actual test results.
I hope I explained myself, sorry but English is not my mother language.

I have a low resting HR (around 37) and  to get enough statistical power, Withings' engineers need to have a sufficient number of heart beats to be able to do the statistical analysis. Therefore I suspect that due to my low resting HR, my HR is often below exactly 50, and when it is, I get the INCONCLUSIVE readout every time.

Could somebody (preferably from Withings/Nokia) explain if the analysis will always return with INCONCLUSIVE if the HR is below 50 BPM? If this is the case, maybe a bugfix could just sample until 15 heart beats have been obtained so we - who are in really good shape :-) - can also use the device? It works well for others in my household, but they always have higher HRs when measured.

Not happy at all. Had the Core since late July 19. I feel we've been duped again, by Nokia. We had the debacle with the smart scales (pwv was withdrawn and then reinstated, what is going on?) and now we've shelled out £230 for a monitor which clearly is not ready for market. Just wasted 30 mins trying to get a reading for the Heart Sounds, nothing. Been using the BP monitor for 3 years now, so I'm not new to this. What are  you doing about it Nokia? Nothing eh!!

I have the same issues with my BPM core that i have received today. BP and ECG work find, but inconclusive heart sounds, no matter what I try. Has anybody got an answer from Withings yet? If they ship a 250€ device that does not work, they‘ll get it back until this issue is fixed

    Hello,

Is everyone now happy how their BPM Core works?  No more problems with "Inconclusive" results?

I am wondering since no new comments on this thread.  Does that mean that the new BPM Core releases are better made that new buyers don't have similar problems as we did?

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Best regards,

    Chep

Nice: the one who started the thread finishing it.

Well, I'm very satisfied these days. The beginning was a 'horrible' experience, but as I stated in my reaction months earlier, these monitoring systems depend on AI, so they have to "learn' from your algorithms. Mine did anyway. Hoping yours is satisfying too and wishing you lot's of 'normal' measurements,

    regards

Chep, I suspect the newer users have seen what we've had to endure and hopefully used nolaar's link

    https://betteratvolleyball.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/largejeffunder1.jpg

which works consistently for me. Background noise can be a problem for me, so I have to watch that, otherwise it works almost all the time!

    Thanks again to nolaar!

    Chep,

No I had a BPM Core out the box this week. Over 50 inconclusive results for heart.

I did the volleyball stance as stated by nolaar performing just an ECG test and got a result.

Done this 5 times and have now received a normal verdict.

I contacted Withings during the week and they denied anyone else having problems! They sent me links for guides and videos that only managed to elevate my heart rate!

    Cheers.

Whatever I try (also the tips from above) I get 90% incorrect measurements ...
Currently I only have 4 who have succeeded.
(Unfortunately I need 5 to get a result)
    This is very frustrating :-(

at least you have the privilege to be able to comment on the inability of the device to work.
I have received mine Friday and the Support as yet to make the determination it is a DoA / lemon while they know it never charged even 1% out of the box and have already asked me to test other cables , USB ports and power sources (which i had done prior reaching out) .

It is clear that something is not 100% correct with the design / manufacturer of this device.
All other devices that I have with Withings work 100% to my satisfaction.
It is a pity that this is not of the same quality :-(
