The syncing of body composition such as lean mass to Apple Health is not possible yet and I am waiting for this to be implemented for a while now. I hope that Withings can integrate this data as soon as possible.

This is a major reason I bought this scale. Is there a way we can request this update so we don’t have to manually do this? It seems so easy to get the lbs it lean muscle to update with each sync.

I am also very surprised that it tracks such data but doesn’t sync it to my iPhone

This is a glaring omission. Proper integration with Apple Health is a critical function of these scales and makes me tempted to return them and buy a model which reports properly to Apple Health. The scales have sensed all the data they need, the app just needs to do a very simple calculation and output the result to Apple Health. This would be such an easy fix to the app but nine months later Withings hasn’t responded!

Please respond and commit to correcting this so that I can continue to use these scales.

+1 for this. Other (much)lesser products have done this for a long time. Please add this (And anything else that you can easily calculate from this excellent products data)

    Here is some help ;)

I agree 100%!  Why does Healthmate allow fat % but not muscle mass %.  All data should be shareable/syncable with the Apple Health app.

And while you have the hood open on that iOS app please add background refresh of new data so we don't have to start the HealthMate app to get the data into Apple Health.

Here is how to do it: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/backgroundtasks/refreshing_and_maintaining_your_app_using_background_tasks

Disappointed to find Body+ / Health Mate doesn't report muscle mass calculation to Apple Health though reports fat % - the lean mass data is created and captured in Health Mate, why not go the next step and update Apple Health with it?

I also would like this feature a lot, it shouldn’t be difficult to add and would make the product a lot better!

Latest update 5.4 adds Lean Body Mass data to Health app. And it even retroactively adds it for past weighing.

Great, yet 5.4 doesn’t show up in the settings permissions for the health app—so not seeing anything being written.

mckinlay After Health Mate update, open it and screen to ask for new permissions should show up. App has to request the new permissions. Otherwise Health app won’t show them in the settings. That’s how HealthKit in iOS works.

I have been waiting for this for literally 6 years... so now that it’s here, it’s not working.

I got the prompt, authorized read and write with Health App.

My Health Mate app does not show “Lean Body Mass”

It has weight, body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, body water and BMI.. no lean body mass.

Looked around and can’t seem to find how to “activate it”. I check for firmware updates, it’s updated.

Maybe my Body Cardio is an older model?

The lean body mass only shows up in Apple Health app, not in the Health Mate app.

The terms “lean body mass” and “muscle mass” are sometimes used interchangeably, but they're not the same. Lean body mass includes muscle mass, as well as bones and bodily fluid (aka water).

Thanks @stijn9, looks like it did that finally! After a few hours all the data showed up in Health app!! Pretty cool.. going back years and years.

    @1mthannigan there’s a similar discussion here:
    https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360029567534--Lean-Mass-presented-as-Muscle-Mass-in-the-HealthMate-app

But as far as the topic discussed here, adding Lean Body Mass sample data to iOS’ Health app, this matter seems to be solved.
