As a physician & user of various fitness trackers including Fitbit, Garmin, Amazfit etc I’ve been a big fan of Withings products for years. However, I’m increasingly disappointed with the health mate app for actually viewing my health metrics & seeing trends over time. Since the Nokia buyback, I thought there’d be some increased development but I haven’t really seen all that much (other than some user insights) and I’m finding it an increasingly disorganised mess. I own various Withings scales, their BP monitor, sleep monitor and the Scanwatch when it was released hoping to get increased fitness tracking integration for the whole Withings family. Despite the Scanwatch not being great at tracking my HR accurately during runs, overall I find they make some great products but feel the app needs an overhaul. I feel part of the issue is the app seems to have been developed trying to integrate all these various devices together. In particular, apart from weight tracking which remains fantastic, I’m finding the app doesn’t do a good job of trying to view other health trends over time. Health metrics are tracked view the following viewable options: - Latest measurements - Trends - Dashboard I can’t understand why these aren’t all consolidated into one view. Some do for weight which is great. However, for many, they appear based on the last reading. This is probably more in relation to the Scanwatch but would love for one tab to have fixed user selectable health metrics in place based on what devices you own eg Calories, floors climbed, HR, sleep, weight while allowing us to remove others we’re not interested in viewing every day eg sleep apnea and fitness level (while still showing when drilling down into others). For instance, I like to track calories. Most basic tracker apps have this front and center. The watch has it but with healthmate, I have to drill down into steps to view any of this info and the other option is to click month to view a caloric average. I can’t get a graphical view of my calories expenditure whatsoever let alone over day, weeks, months etc. The focus certainly for the Scanwatch on the app is primarily steps and HR (automatically anyway). Also, the graphical representation over months (or years) is better via the likes of Fitbit. Withings just gives a coloured dot for steps and sleep for month which personally I don’t find intuitive at all. It also doesn’t offer a longer year view. Give us a goal line to see if we are meeting our goals eg sleep 7-8 hours. If I exercise more, I’d like to see if my HR is going down over months with a trend like. I have to scroll across by each month to try see this. Anyway, love the brand and appreciate it’s a small team they have with likely limited resources given that even reported bugs take quite some time to be addressed but had really hoped there’d be some better development of the app at this stage. I know they requested feedback a while back on the app so hoping some consideration is given to better development. It’s not easy integrating multiple products into the app but here’s hoping.
