The sheer irony of a blood pressure monitor causing so much frustration when trying to use and thus raising my blood pressure sky high is not lost on me.
When this device was developed with multiple users in mind, did NOBODY at Withings stop and think perhaps having a user selection confirmation at the end of the rest would be important? Nobody thought having a "Yes" and "No" button (checkmark/X, whatever) would improve interaction with it by leaps and bounds and only involved ONE more button....? Would that have thrown the R&D budget out the window?
I never remember when to press once and when to press-and-hold to select myself on the device and constantly send the results to someone else's phone and account by accident, and there's no way I can rescind it. Giving us a "Confirm?" after the user name was clocked would prevent this obnoxious nonsense from happening. Instead I have to find that person and go through a whole process of trying to erase the invalid data off their iPhone which, and I don't know if this is Apple Health or HealthMate's fault, becomes really annoying to get it to erase permanently.
Speaking of HealthMate... what a horrendous application for getting any idea of the status of this unit. "Last Sync" only appears to update after a successful reading was received by the app. The battery % seems to stay out-of-date until then. I have no way to know when the last time the device was seen (i.e. connected by bluetooth) to the app. Reinstalling the device doesn't fix. Heck, it doesn't even update the last sync time. Let's not even start on the discussion about how the blood pressure reference data isn't customizable and uses very critical numbers that even my own doctor says they don't follow. The terms "elevated" and "stage X" are now completely ignored by me based on advice from multiple doctors. Instead I have to carry a separate chart given to me by them to compare my results to. Not a good user experience.
Trying to find the help guide on how to properly select the right user after a test isn't anywhere in the "Install for multiple users" help guide. I forget where it is, I have to dig through all the help docs to find it every time, getting more and more annoyed I have to jump through these idiotic hoops just to use this thing properly. You know, real awesome mindset to be in when you're trying to stay calm for an accurate test reading.
This experience really makes me think twice about adding any additional Withings devices to my household.
A Blood pressure device should NOT be frustrating to use!
