Hi Withings,
I own both the Withings Sleep Analyzer and the Withings Scanwatch. I love both but it is clear that the sleep tracking on the Sleep Analyzer is way better than the one on the Scanwatch. It is often the case that the time I was asleep per night differs 1 to 2 hours between both devices. In my experience, the Sleep Analyzer is very close to reality while the Scanwatch does not track REM sleep and is not good at detecting when I'm in bed but not yet asleep.
In this youtube video from "the quantified scientist", there is an interview with the Withings Team regarding sleep tracking on the watch. They mention that Scanwatch only uses movement to track sleep stages, no heart rate. This is also the reason why REM sleep cannot be detected. However, it is said that they are working on having HR included in the algorithm next to movement. This should bring the sleep tracking on the same level as other wearables from fitbit, garmin and others.
The video is a year old but as far as I experience there is no improvement to sleep tracking in this past year. Is Withings still working on improving the sleep tracking with HR? And if so, is there a target date for when it should be released?
And for other users: what is your experience with the Scanwatch sleep tracking?
Thanks!
Floris
