"Seeking" wifi icon

I have had this scale for quite awhile.  It has started to display a wi-fi icon that looks like it is broadcasting, seeking a wi-fi network.  The wi-fi icon is on the left while Lbs, BMI and Fat are on the right.  Then the screen goes blank.  What is it trying to tell me?  I replaced the batteries - although after reading some posts in this forum, I will take them out again and wait 60 seconds, then re-install.  We switched to a new internet provider a little over two years ago.  However, my dashboard says the last sync information it has was from a year and a half after the switch to the new internet provider.  So, I would think the problem is not a failure to connect to wi-fi.
