Same problem here, average since few days is 80% of battery used by the app within a day. Even when I disable the background task in android settings. Where can I open a ticket? It seems there absolutely no support from withings here.

I have the same issue with 7.1.0.  I reverted to 7.0.1 and now notifications don't work.  There obviously something in their base code that is making this happen again!  Ridiculous.

Same here. New watch 3 days ago. Mysterious battery drain. Old scanwatch didn't have same issue (but  bust in another way - bezel stopped registering when pushed: equally rubbish). One plus 10T. Truly not impressed with this company.

    "Hans (Withings)

    1. Dez. 2024, 16:55 MEZ

    Guten Tag,

Deleting the cache won't work. Deleting application data will work, but then you need to reconfigure everything, and it will only work until someone sends you a heart emoji, then it will start to drain again. There is no long lasting workaround, they should be fixing this right away and issue a hotfix instead of waiting for the next release in the release cycle.

Can you please point the support to these links if you plan to answer?

The issue is discussed here, it affects a lot of people: https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/30658346821905-The-battery-drain-issue-is-back

The discussion of the same bug in version 6.1.0 is discussed here: https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/19853868979857-Battery-drain-with-Withings-App-version-6-1-0

A reverse engineering of the bug and how to fix it is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/withings/comments/18k9mii/details_on_android_battery_drain_issue_with/

I could have paid for a Samsung at the same price, but I wanted a nice looking watch that looked like a real watch with the functionality that was promised. Now I have a regular watch like a timex that does nothing but tell the time and costs 3 times as much.

I chatted with a support rep and they said this "Please know that our development team is already aware of the battery depletion and is actively working to resolve this."  Suggested clearing app cache, re-installing, and turning off notifications temporarily.

Same issue on my Pixel 7a past few days. I've disable the apps ability to run in background to try and reduce impact.

A potential workaround until they can get a fix (for those who can't roll back to previous version).

Yesterday I disabled "Allow background usage" option for the application and since then it has stopped using enormous amounts of battery.

I assumed this might impact my notifications to my Withings watch but they are still working fine.

I found a workaround for myself.

Tried other suggestions in this thread (clearing cache etc etc) which didnt work for me. What I ended up doing was enabling developer tools (nothing phone 2) on my phone then navigating to:

Developer Options -> Running Services -> Withings -> Then something like "Read Notifications Service" Which I disabled.

Since then it's had no power draw, however I'm pretty sure this will break notifications on my watch but I wasn't really using them much anyway.

Issues like this have really damaged my trust in the brand. Especially since they cannot commit to a specific timeline to resolve the issue. As a software engineer I'm really shocked they don't have a suite of tests to catch bugs like this and that they didn't immediately prep a revert and push a new update to fix this issue especially after a week. Where I work this would be an engineering incident and require an immediate fix.

60 percent drain over 10 hours of background usage on Pixel 9 pro here. And I'm travelling and the battery just drains or doesn't charge if I have it plugged in. Crazy.

I uninstalled and re-installed the app, and have disabled whatsapp and messages notifications on my watch. Since then the app has used barely any battery. This makes it usable and I still receive all other notifications for work-outs, emails etc. Still a shame to not get messages, but much better than nothing.
Still need to be aware that something else might send an emoji in a notification, so may need to go through the re-install again.

I found application version 7.0.1 and it works normally again without battery drain. However, I have to re-enable all permissions and applications with notifications after installation.
