If your scale doesn't measure body composition, perform the following steps:
-
Make sure that your trigram appears after your weight has been displayed on the scale. If there are several users, select the correct user by leaning your weight left or right when your trigram appear on the scale. If you are not recognized, please install your scale again.
- Make sure that impedance is activated on your scale. To do so, go to Devices > Body+ > Settings > Impedance and heart rate.
- Make sure that the Body composition screen is activated on the scale's settings. To do so, go to Devices > Body+ > Screens customization.
Note:
- Body composition is only available for adults. Children and teenagers won't be able to access this feature.
- Dry feet might prevent the body composition measurement. As such, we advise that you weigh yourself after your shower so that your skin is in its best condition for the measurement.
Important: Withings has not evaluated the accuracy of the measurement in patients with scar tissues, so Withings cannot guarantee that scar tissues do not have an effect on the accuracy of the measurement in a population of patients with scar tissues.
However Withings is not aware of any contraindication to the use of bioimpedance in the presence of scar tissues. In addition, it does not seem probable that scar tissues will affect the accuracy. A first reason is that scar tissues are made of collagen fibers as normal skin. The difference is in the orientation of the fibers, which should not have an impact on the bioimpedance measurement. Second, the electric signals used in a bioimpedance measurement propagate deep into the tissues, so that they should not be significantly affected by modifications of the composition of superficial tissues, if any.
