The Body Scan introduces advanced Segmental Body Composition functionality. Learn more about it here.
Follow these steps to take a segmental body composition measurement:
-
Hold the handle with both hands and ensure each hand is holding the correct side marked L (Left) and R (Right).
Note: If you do not see markings on your handle and are unsure of which side is left and right, simply retract the handle back into the scale. The handle is magnetized and will settle into the correction position.
-
Place your thumbs on each of the top electrodes.
-
Step on the scale barefoot and stand still.
For the most accurate segmental body composition measurements, please follow these guidelines:
- Always perform a segmental body composition measurement in the same conditions at the same time of day each day. This is because body composition results will vary during the day, due to factors such as the amount of water present in the body at any given time. Repeating this process allows you to track changes over time.
- As body composition measurements are affected by hydration, avoid eating or drinking up to 2 hours before taking a measurement.
- Ensure your arms/hands are not touching your body (i.e. avoid skin-to-skin contact).
It is important to slightly lift your arms away from your body when weighing in. (See image below.) - Wear a light undergarment when weighing in if needed to avoid skin-to-skin contact.
- Pay attention to the position of your feet on the scale platform, and of your hands and fingers on the handle.
- Do not move during a measurement. This includes bending your knees or elbows.
- Clean the scale (main body and handle) with warm water before stepping on it.
- Dry your body (especially hands and feet) before performing a measurement.
- Remove all rings/hand accessories before performing a measurement to make sure that no metal is touching the electrodes on the handle.
Correct positioning highlighting the reduced skin-to-skin contact.
Note: Body composition is only available for people 18 years or older. Children and teenagers younger than 18 won't be able to access this feature.
